6 Reasons Rebel Wilson\u2019s Skin Looks Better Than Ever

Watching Rebel Wilson’s transformation over the last couple of years has truly been inspiring. During her “Year of Health” in 2020, during the height of the pandemic, the actress spent her extra down time prioritizing exercising and healthy eating. “Until this past year I never properly considered wellness from all angles,” Rebel Wilson, 41, told Shape. “But I was turning 40 and thinking about freezing my eggs, and the experts told me that the healthier I am, the better the process can go. I get a little emotional when I ask myself why I didn’t care about my health before this. It just wasn’t a priority, and I didn’t know how to do it right.”

Wilson started her wellness journey at an Austrian health retreat, where she learned that moderate walking was a great way to lose weight and start exercising. She listens to podcasts while she takes her strolls and works out with her trainer, Gunnar Peterson, three times a week. She’s also learned how to manage emotional eating. Her goal for 2021 is to maintain all of her new healthy habits.

Wilson’s Year of Health is proof of the power of wellness because all of those health-boosting changes are showing up on her skin, too. “Now I feel that thing people talk about—if you’re healthy on the inside, you glow on the outside,” Wilson has said. “I don’t want to sound superficial, and looks aren’t everything, but I think I’m getting better looking with age.” See how she is turning back the clock with her smart skincare strategies.

She sticks to a skincare routine.

Though Wilson has quite a collection of beauty products now, that wasn’t always the case. “I never was like a girly girl who was into stuff,” she told Byrdie. “But I am into facials now. I find them so relaxing. I never knew about anything beauty-wise until I came to Hollywood. I’m from the bush in Australia, so I really had to learn everything.”

She uses this budget-friendly ice roller from Amazon under the eyes and on the jawline first thing in the morning, before applying makeup, to depuff her face, which is great for filming days. When she’s working, she’s loyal to Dermalogica, especially their UltraCalming Cleanser,Multi-Active Toner, and Super Rich Repair Moisturizer.

She also likes the Kate Somerville DermalQuench +Retinol Advanced Resurfacing Treatment. “It just gives this cool tingling sensation when you spray it on,” she has said. “Another friend who’s a makeup artist has been using it too. I also have been wearing a lot of Korean face masks lately. My friend supplies me with them. I don’t know what the hell is in them, but Koreans know their beauty products.”

On days she doesn’t have a glam squad, Wilson takes matters into her own hands. “I definitely have my little essentials that I use if I have to quickly look presentable: Dior Addict Lip Glow—it’s a lipstick, but also kind of a gloss as well. It’s really easy, and you don’t even need a mirror to put it on,” she told Who What Wear. “I always use Givenchy’s Noir Couture Waterproof Mascara because when I smile, my eyes crinkle quite a bit, so I always use waterproof so mascara doesn’t get all over my lids. Then, I grab Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz to do a bit of a brow when I’m stopped at a traffic light, and to finish, probably Charlotte Tilbury’s Eye Shadow Pencil in Amethyst Aphrodisiac.

She knows the importance of sunscreen.

The actress is all about sun care since there is a high skin cancer rate down under. “I’ll always apply Dermalogica’s Sunscreen With SPF 50 because I’m so fair, but I love being out in the sun,” she has said. “Wearing sunscreen every single day is something that’s kind of been ingrained in me as an Australian.”

Wilson is into an IPL laser. “It’s a laser that gets rid of sun damage,” she has said. “I love it. I think my skin responds really well to lasers, so I do, once a year or so, get a little bit of maintenance done, mostly to remove any sun damage. I feel like it’s a good investment because sun damage later in life can potentially lead to skin cancer, so I think it’s almost preventative in a way.”

“I’ve given everything a go,” the Pitch Perfect star told Bustle. “I’ve tried cryotherapy. I’ve had one colonic, which was the scariest thing ever. It was very invasive. I’d say the thing I do regularly is a lymphatic massage, which is all the rage here in Los Angeles. It’s kind of weird because they press you in very particular areas… some are more personal. And they press on the lymph nodes to help you with higher immunity, a better digestive system, and it kind of helps with de-bloating.”

One of her wellness rituals is taking Olly’s gummy supplements. (She’s an ambassador for the brand.) “My hair and my skin get put through a lot because I’m filming all the time,” Wilson has said. “My nails do as well because I love gel nails, even though it’s a bit damaging to my nails.
