Beyoncé and Blue Ivy Just Went Full Lion King at 2019’s Wearable Art Gala
Disney’s The Lion King can’t come soon enough, especially as Beyoncé is voicing one of the main characters.
And it seems as though the singing superstar is just as excited as we are about the movie, as she went full Lion King when she attended the annual Wearable Art Gala in 2019.
Hosted by her mother, Tina Knowles Lawson, Beyoncé regularly puts in an appearance at the event (although she usually skips the star-studded red carpet, as she did this year). Blue Ivy was also in attendance and Beyoncé shared the sweetest video of her daughter singing along to “Circle of Life” from The Lion King via Instagram.
Understandably, Beyoncé’s Lion King inspired look was total fire:
The theme of this year’s Wearable Art Gala was “A Journey to the Pride Lands”—which explains the incredible Lion King references. Of the impressive array of outfits worn on the red carpet, Beyoncé’s mom told Los Angeles Times, “Wearable art has to be over-the-top.” She continued, “It can’t just be a dress with a little necklace. You’ve gotta really go there with it!”
Knowles Lawson also joked, “If you think of the Met Ball, some people have called this Met West.” And the event has definitely made us even more excited for Beyoncé’s performance as Nala.
