Elton John Pledges $1 Million To Australian Bushfire Relief Fund

Music legend Elton John has pledged $1 million towards the Australian Bushfire Relief Fund.

The 72-year-old singer, who is currently touring across Australia & New Zealand on his multi-year, award-winning Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, announced that his heart was going out to the millions of animals that have suffered from the most devastating fire season seen in the history of the country.

“We should all be in the awe of the work the firefighters are doing,” John said during his show at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney. “There are people out there who have lost their lives trying to save homes, there are people who have lost their lives and their homes.”

“And lastly, there’s the plight of the animals, a loss of their habitat that, frankly, is on a biblical scale and it’s heartbreaking,” he added. “Therefore tonight, I will be pledging $1 million dollars to support the bushfire relief fund.”

John joins the ranks of Kylie Minogue, P!nk, Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman, among other celebrities who have contributed to the cause.
