Just Jared Jr: How has this role changed your life?
Frankie A Rodriguez
: Taking on the role of Carlos has been one of the most rewarding and fun experiences of my life. I pinch myself everyday.

JJJ: What was it like stepping into the role of a choreographer? Did you have past dance experience?
FR
: I had very little dance experience going into this so I was definitely a little nervous. But real life HSMTMTS choreographer Zach Woodlee was so awesome to work with and put my mind and ease very early on.

JJJ: What’s your favorite part about playing Carlos?
FR
: I love how optimistic he is and he’s always willing to help out when needed.

JJJ: What’s your favorite behind-the-scenes moment?
FR
: Every morning in the makeup trailer, there was always music playing which eventually lead into a big dance party. The BEST way to start a workday.

JJJ: Do you have a favorite musical number?
FR
: “Stick To The Status Quo” literally had me gagged. Showing up to set that day and seeing everyone SERVING was so much fun to watch.

JJJ: If you could have had any OG star as a guest who would it be?
FR
: ZAC. EFRON.

JJJ: Did you learn anything from Lucas Grabeel while he was on set?
FR
: Yes! It was so great to talk to him and ask him questions about his experience working on the OG films. Definitely was a little starstruck. Not going to lie.

JJJ: The end of the homecoming scene was one of my favorites. I literally cried. What was it like to bring that story to life and have them finally couple up?
FR: It was one of the best days of my life. Walking into the gym for the first time and seeing all the decorations and everyone dressed up was so exciting. Also, getting to share that story with Joe Serafini (Seb) was just so special.

JJJ: Did it bring back any old high school memories for you?
FR: HA. Not really. I never really went to my high school dances. So it was so much fun to experience a school dance in such an epic way. I mean, I got to crowd surf!

JJJ: What does it mean to you to play an openly gay character on TV?
FR
: It means a lot! I’m so proud to be a part of a show that is sharing LGBTQ storylines in such a loving way.

JJJ: Have you had any experience with fans sharing their stories or how you helped them?
FR
: Yeah! A lot of messages from kids who say the show has helped them be more confident. Which is so awesome. Born to be brave!

JJJ: What are your hopes for Carlos and Seb in season 2?
FR
: Maybe like a big epic duet or something! But I think it’s going to be fun to see what happens come season 2.

JJJ: Do you know/can share anything about the upcoming second season?
FR
: Haha, I know nothing. Literally.

JJJ: What do you hope for season 2?
FR
: More music! Which I’m told there will be. So THAT I really can’t wait for.

JJJ: Do you have any other projects coming up?
FR
: I have an episode of Will & Grace coming out soon. But I also have a fun internet project down the pipeline that I’m so excited to share!

JJJ: What made you want to get into acting?
FR
: I’ve always loved the art of storytelling. And, I’ve always loved musical theatre so I think it’s cool to be in a show that is so musical.

JJJ: Would you ever want to do Broadway or a live musical somewhere?
FR
: 100%! I told myself I’d get back on stage in 2020. So I’m excited to see what that might be.

JJJ: You started out singing, would you want to release an album at any point?
FR
: Haha, I don’t ever want to say never, because who really knows, but it’s not something I’m currently looking into. However, I do love to sing.

JJJ: If not shoes, what would be your favorite go-to fashion accessory?
FR
