Inside Alex Scotts love life from teammate romance to Jamie Redknapp advice
Alex Scott teases ‘stuff people don’t know’ in her book
Former Arsenal footballer Alex Scott had previously kept her dating life mostly under wraps, until she opened up more in her recently released memoir, How (Not) To Be Strong.
In the candid book, which was published last year, the BBC Sport presenter, 38, revealed all about her relationship with ex-girlfriend Kelly Smith, which lasted from 2005 to 2013.
Alex and Kelly, 44, dated while they were teammates in the Arsenal Ladies squad.
Alex shared that Kelly was her “first love”, as she recalled: “I fell madly and deeply in love.
“And yes, there’s that heartbreak and those things, but it’s a huge part of my life and I wouldn’t go back and change that.”

Alex also made claims about Kelly’s battles with alcohol addiction at the time of their romance, which she suggested was one of the causes of the breakdown of their romance.
Despite the retired footballer sharing intimate details of their life as a couple in her book, Kelly insisted there were no hard feelings.
“Alex told me that it was going to come out but I have not spoken to her since then. It’s OK because it’s already out there,” Kelly told MailOnline.
After moving on from Kelly, Alex admitted “I never have a lot of luck with love” as she addressed a dating disaster she suffered with Coronation Street star Sam Robertson.

Although Alex branded the actor “lovely”, their romantic connection didn’t get off to the best start, as photos of their date were leaked.
“The next morning, our pictures were all over the press because someone in the restaurant had taken a photo.
“It wasn’t exactly a great start!” The star admitted to The Sun’s Fabulous Magazine in 2021.
Despite her dating mishap, Alex was keen to get back out there and got some advice from her fellow football pundit, Jamie Redknapp.
However, the star’s top tip didn’t pay off for Alex, as she felt “too scared” to connect with anyone on the celebrity dating app that Jamie had suggested.
She told Grazia back in March: “I am single, but I’m ready to mingle…
“It’s really hard [to find someone] because people have a load of preconceptions. I struggle with apps.
“For me, it’s all about connection that instant connection with someone and conversation and I’m like ‘Oh wow.’
“I remember Jamie Redknapp telling me ‘There’s a dating app Raya…’ So I was on it but I was too scared to connect with anyone.”
