“I honestly don’t know what I’m going to do, but I know he’ll be with me. I love you forever Daddy.”

Alongside the tear-jerking caption, she shared a sweet snap of the pair when she was younger.

Reilly became a well-known face of US soaps after his long stints playing retired spy Sean Donely for 11-years in ABC’s General Hospital, and his recurring role in 80s hit Dallas.

Born in Chicago, he made his first acting debut in the 1960s with roles on shows like Death Valley Days, Apple’s Way and Gunsmoke and made it into the world of soap in 1974 in As the World Turns, where he played Dr Dan Stewart.

This led him to more parts on shows such as How the West Was Won and Quincy M.E.

The veteran actor also appeared in other soaps like Sunset Beach and Passions throughout his career.

Following the news, fans rushed to Twitter to share their condolences and remember him with touching tributes in his honour.
