Kate Ferdinand says she and husband Rio ‘saved each other’ in emotional interview as she reveals baby plans
Kate Ferdinand has opened up on just how much husband Rio means to her, crediting him for “saving” her after she slipped into a dark battle with anxiety.
The former reality star, 27, said she was struggling with anxiety and panic attacks when she met the football pundit, 41, who was also struggling after becoming a widower after his wife Rebecca Ellison passed away from breast cancer in 2015.
Kate, who is now co-parenting Rio’s three children, said he and the kids helped her “love herself.” Speaking to The Sun, she said: “We really did save each other.

“Rio was at a stage in his life where he had lost his wife and I was also lost.”
She added: “We have all been through bad times and yet we are all together. Going through so much brings you even closer.”
The star also opened up on their plans to have a child of their own, with Kate admitting: “The boys would like a boy and Tia would like a girl. One day we will.”
The couple wed on Friday 27 September in a lavish ceremony in Turkey , and exclusively shared their big day with OK! magazine.
Speaking on the day, Rio told us: “I definitely wasn’t looking for someone at that time. I didn’t think it was possible, I wasn’t open to bringing someone in to become a stepmum to the kids.
“Things don’t always go the way you imagine. Meeting Kate changed everything and sometimes it’s just fate.”
“I knew Kate was special from the moment I met her, it was pretty instant, but seeing her with the kids cemented everything, that was a huge part of it for me.
“So many pieces of the jigsaw have to click together for it to work and the wedding was the final piece.”
The ex-Manchester United centre back revealed to OK! magazine he broke down in tears as he saw Tia lead the ex-reality TV star down the aisle.
He said: “I cried as soon as the day started. Seeing Tia walk up the aisle before Kate set me off. It was just so emotional.
"There was just no going back on the emotion, that’s why I had to keep my shades on!

“Seeing [sons] Tate and Lorenz walk Kate down the aisle was particularly poignant and we wouldn’t have wanted to do it any other way.”
He added: "They were so proud and they couldn’t wait to do that, they felt important."
Kate was equally honoured to have Rio’s two sons walk her down the aisle, as she gushed: "Having the boys walk me down the aisle was just amazing.
“It was a hugely important moment for me and they did so well. Seeing Rio at the altar made me feel so happy, I couldn’t wait to get to him."
