Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway took to Twitter today to recall an event that happened this time last year, many months before her husband Derek Draper fell ill with COVID-19. The TV and radio star, who has had a very difficult year, looked back fondly at the Global’s Make Some Noise charity event, which saw her take to the stage to perform songs from some of the most famous West End shows.
“Goodness me! What’s happened in a year,” the 53-year-old Smooth Radio presenter wrote online, amid the closure of theatres across the country following the coronavirus outbreak.
Sharing a tweet which included a picture of her standing on the stage in the spotlight, Kate continued: “That was an amazing night when so many talented performers made space for my enthusiastic amateur endeavours!!!“
“And for such a good cause,” she added, in view of her 411,300 followers.
“Here’s to the day when we can all enjoy fabulous shows all over the country as freely as then.”
Alongside Kate’s post was the original message from the Global’s Make Some Noise official account.
The message read: “This time last year, @SmoothRadio’s @kategarraway appeared in 5 West End Shows in 1 night for Make Some Noise! “
On the night, the mum-of-two belted out hits from five big shows – Big: The Musical, School of Rock, Magic Mike, The Waitress and Mamma Mia: The Musical.
“Bravo, Kate!” the tweet signed off, praising the GMB star for taking to the stage.

Last month, Kate returned to her Smooth Radio show after a six-month leave of absence.
Her husband Derek remains in hospital after contracting COVID-19 back in March.
The couple share two children together: Darcey, 14, and Billy, 11.
Earlier this week, the GMB star became emotional on air after receiving a message of support from former Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
“And our thoughts are always with Kate and her family,” the politician said during an interview on the ITV show.
Kate continues to share the latest coronavirus news on the breakfast show as well as regular updates on her spouse’s health.
