Katya Jones, 31, has been part of Strictly Come Dancing’s team of professional dancers since 2016 and went on to win the show with her partner, actor Joe McFadden, the following year. However, the dancer recently revealed in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk that her future on the BBC dance competition has not yet been officially confirmed by producers.
The star revealed when quizzed on whether she will return for the 2021 series: “Yeah we’ve been having chats, so hopefully we’ll know more in the nearest future.”
Speaking out on changes the show had to make to its format last year due to coronavirus restrictions, Katya added: “It seems like there’s light at the end of the tunnel and we can be back on stage doing whatever we can.
“And it’s going to be even more special when it comes back.”
Despite her love of the programme’s live studio audience, Katya insisted her Strictly experience was “still really lovely” last year, as all the contestants cheered each other on instead.

She divulged: “It was still really lovely because we were all sat there cheering each other on and it didn’t feel empty at all.
“I think the energy was so electric.
“I used to think to myself, ‘Calm down because you’ll lose your voice’! I felt like my voice was going!”
Although Katya hopes to return to Strictly for this year’s series, she revealed she would also be keen to branch out and work on her own show.
Following her passion for sustainability and upcycling her clothes, the BBC favourite admitted: “It’s all about doing more about the environment.
“Sustainability is such a hot topic.
“So if I could help in getting more people involved in it by hosting a show about upcycling, reusing, and reducing, I would absolutely love that.”
Katya recently showed off her TV presenting skills during an appearance on BBC’s Morning Live to share her upcycling tips and tricks.

Discussing the experience, the multi-talented dancer said: “It was so nice because I’ve been passionate about it for quite a while.
“I’ve done the whole thing of not buying anything at all and I wear my little pieces.
“For example, this headband is made out of an old pair of tights and I kind of take pride in it.
“And they wanted to find out why, and I wanted to show people how easy it is to do at home, and especially now with keeping children occupied and busy and the amount of loo rolls we have, and what you can do with them!
“My friends take the mick out of me because they just text me and say, ‘I’ve got a whole bag of loo rolls if you need them’.”
Advocating her environmentally friendly hobby, Katya added: “It gives your things a better and more sparkly life.
“It’s all about changing mentality, it’s funny because when I go for a walk I check every single skip and I’m constantly looking for things I can redo or repurpose or upcycle.
“Normally people just chuck things in the bin and don’t think about it, but my mentality is totally different, like, ‘What can I do?’”
