Lily Allenis celebrating being two years sober and says “getting clean is the best thing” she “ever did”.
The singing sensation has completed a whole 730 days without touching narcotics or alcohol, after she previously admitted to being addicted to drugs while on tour with Miley Cyrus.
Taking to Instagram to share the amazing achievement to her 1.5million followers, Lily posted a series of pictures of herself posing in a black dress.
She also shared a shot of Step 12 of her Narcotics Anonymous programme, revealing July 28 marks two years since using any substances.
Captioning the carousel of images, Lily wrote: “2 Years Drug and Alcohol free today ! Getting clean is the BEST thing i ever did, and i’ve done a lot of cool shit.
“Come see me in the play i’ve been working on. @222aghoststory link in bio for tix !”.
The Smile star also shared an image on her Instagram story of a cake she had been given to mark the momentous occasion. The colourful rainbow-covered baked good had a number two iced on it.
At the beginning of this year, in January, the singer showed off a Narcotics Anonymous keyring she was awarded to celebrate being “clean & serene” for 18 months.
At the time, the 35 year revealed that she hadn't touched drink or drugs for a year-and-a-half.
To celebrate, Lily posted a selfie on Instagram and poked her tongue out at the camera.
The Smile singer captioned the shot: "18 months clean and sober today. Would recommend!"
The star is on the mend as she puts children Ethel, nine, and Marnie, eight, first.
This comes after Lily candidly opened up about how her alcohol problem turned serious while touring with Miley Cyrus in 2014. But it was the summer of 2019 that she decided to "confront her demons" and get to the bottom of her issues once and for all.
“About six months after my youngest was born we ran out of money and I had to go back out on the road again, but I was 14 stone and did not feel like a pop star at all," she told The Recovery Podcast hosted by DJ Fat Tony last year.
"I started taking a drug which is like speed to lose the weight and I got addicted to this drug because it made me feel invincible.
"Then I ended up on tour in America supporting Miley Cyrus. It was when she was doing Wrecking Ball – it was a highly sexualised tour.
"I had just spent the last three years pushing babies out. It couldn't have been less what I felt like.
"I was supporting this girl who was much younger and more attractive than I felt. I just started acting out in all manner of ways."
Things turned toxic for the singer before she confronted her demons.
"I started cheating on my husband and I had always drunk alcohol to take the edge off the drugs." she added.
I was thinking, 'I think I have got a drinking problem. And none of this acting out is working any more. Maybe I should try heroin… I had seen what happens to people who use heroin.
"When that thought popped into my head it was time to confront my demons."
