Lizzo Signs Deal To Develop Television Projects For Amazon Streaming Service

Amazon Studios co-heads Albert Cheng and Vernon Sanders announced during the company’s virutual TCA press tour that Lizzo has signed a deal to produce future projects for Amazon Inc.’s Prime Video streaming service.

Lizzo, who made a brief appearance during the call, said, “I’m so excited to partner with the amazing team at Amazon. Thank you to Jen Salke and the rest of the team for making this dream come true. I can’t wait to get started and share my vision with the world.”

Cheng called Lizzo a “force of positivity.”

“Lizzo is one of the most exciting, creative, joyful artists in the industry, and it is such a pleasure to announce this new deal with her,” said Salke, Head of Amazon Studios. “She has such a unique perspective and we’re so excited to hear her ideas for new content that our Prime Video customers are sure to love.”

For the Grammy award winning R&B star, who starred in feature film Hustlers and voiced a character in UglyDolls, the deal marks her first major move in television.

Lizzo now joins Viola Davis, “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino and star Rachel Brosnahan, “Fleabag’s” Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Sharon Horgan, Daniel Dae Kim and Brad Pitt as part of the lineup of creatives at Amazon.
