Loose Womens Linda Robson lands new movie role alongside EastEnders Maisie Smith

Linda Robson is set to make her triumphant return to the world of acting in an upcoming movie with none other than former EastEnders actor Maisie Smith.

Linda, who earlier this month enjoyed a solo vacation, is arguably most well known for her work as a Loose Women panellist alongside the likes of Stacey Solomon, Christine Lampard, Charlene White and Ruth Langsford.

Before she became a staple face on British daytime TV, Linda was a hugely successful actress who appeared in shows such as Dick Turpin and Birds of a Feather.

During Wednesday’s episode of Loose Women, which Coleen Nolan was hosting, panellists Kelle Bryan and Janet Street-Porter were clued in on Linda’s new venture.

Coleen said: "Linda, you've got some very exciting news about your return to acting."

Linda, 65, revealed that she was joining the upcoming cast of Bermondsey Tales: Fall Of The Roman Empire.

"I have yeah. I've done a little film called Bermondsey Tales, it's got Maisie Smith in it," she said, inviting everyone to the premiere before joking that she is playing a "body double."

Earlier this week, a source close to the production of the film told The Mirror that Linda was “excited” about the jump back into the world of acting.

“Linda was mentioned at a very early stage by the Fugitive Film Productions – the team behind Bermondsey Tales,” they said. “They were very keen to get her on board and are absolutely thrilled that she has agreed to play Kath.”

"They feel she is perfect for the role and will do a brilliant job of bringing it to life,” the source continued before adding that Linda is "excited about the project" and wants to "throw herself into it" when filming begins.

While details on the exact plot are still scarce, filming is set to go ahead later this year and will include Strictly Come Dancing runner-up Maisie Smith.

This is the first major acting gig for the girlfriend of Max George since she left BBC soap EastEnders last year.

Speaking to The Sun about Maisie’s casting, a source said: "It is an exciting new venture for Maisie and she can’t wait to dip her toe into a big new project.”

"Since Strictly and EastEnders she has kept her eyes open for her next on-screen job, and the people behind Bermondsey Tales thought Maisie was the perfect fit."

The full cast is yet to be revealed, but Kidulthood actor Adam Deacon, 40, and Alan Ford from Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels are also reported to be on the project.

At the end of March, former Hollyoaks hunk Charlie Clapham, who played Freddie Roscoe on the soap from 2013 to 2017, said he was also joining the cast as a character called Jimmy Roman.

On Twitter, the star wrote: “Pleased to share I’ll be teaming up with @FilmsFugitive once again playing the role of ‘Jimmy Roman’ in their next feature film ‘Bermondsey Tales: Fall of the Roman Empire’. Let’s av it!”

Reacting to the news, one person wrote: “Congrats mate you will smash it!”

“Congratulations Charlie, I’m sure you’ll be amazing!” another said.
