Meghan Markle beams as she wraps arms around close pals during belated birthday lunch

After turning 42 on August 4, Meghan Markle is still celebrating her birthday by spending some quality time with friends in California.

The Duchess Of Sussex, who enjoyed a relaxed family birthday with husband Prince Harry and their two children, headed out for lunch with pals Kadi Lee, a celebrity hairdresser, and author Cleo Wade – taking a sun kissed selfie while dining al fresco.

Kadi shared the picture, in which Meghan sat in the middle and wrapped her arms around the pair, to her Instagram account. "Belated bday celebrations w/ these lovely muses," she wrote.

Appearing in high spirits, Meghan let her brunette locks fall in a sleek style as she kept casual in a black cami top, adding a silver necklace.

Colourist Kadi, whose Instagram account is named 'Highbrow Hippie', the name of her salon, often posts about doing Meghan's hair for her. Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt are amongst her other A-list clients.

As Meghan marked 42 years around the sun, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK! at the time that a relaxing day with her family could be on the cards for her as she celebrated her big day.

“It will probably start with an early morning yoga session, then a cuddle with her babies while Harry makes her a delicious and incredibly healthy breakfast.

"Or maybe as a treat Archie will help make birthday waffles as we know the late Queen gave him a waffle maker for a Christmas present.

"I expect they will just hang out as a family in the sunshine for the day…and maybe Doria will baby sit while Harry and Meghan go out for dinner or celebrate with friends.”

Aside from birthday celebrations, it was recently alleged that the Duchess of Sussex could be set to draw on her experiences of acting and the film industry to return to the bright lights of Hollywood. This is a move described as clever by a royal expert.

Meghan and her husband Prince Harry, 38, are allegedly planning to produce a Netflix movie based on The New York Times best-selling novel Meet Me At The Lake by Canadian author Carley Fortune. They are said to have bought the film rights for £3 million and their company Archewell Productions, created to produce programmes that “inform, elevate and inspire”, is set to adapt it for the big screen.

The novel is set in Toronto, where Meghan lived for seven years, and covers themes that echo Harry and Meghan’s own lives.

Meghan is familiar with Hollywood and how it works. Between 2011 and 2018, she played paralegal turned associate Rachel Zane in USA Network legal drama Suits.
