Michael Owens son branded his twin in family Christmas snap

It’s usually Liverpool legend Michael Owen who is making the headlines in the Owens’ household.

However, his son James has caught the public’s attention with his uncanny resemblance to his famous father.

Even Michael’s fans were shocked though by the latest picture uploaded by the ex-England captain, which showed 16-year-old James posing alongside his mum and sisters on Boxing Day.

The festive photo was taken at the footballer’s stunning home, and was uploaded to Michael’s Instagram with the simple caption, “Merry Christmas from The Owens”.

Situated amongst 42 acres of beautiful Welsh countryside, the luxurious mansion is worth an estimated £4 million and was suitably decorated with silver tinsel and fairy lights running up the dark wood bannister.

Whilst some fans were (understandably) envious of the Owens’ gorgeous manor, most of Michael 400k followers commented about his son’s appearance.

Stood on the stairs of the family’s home, young James looked almost identical to his dad Michael when he was at the height of his career in the late 90s and early noughties.

Fans were quick to comment on the fact, with one writing: "No DNA test needed on your lad wow. Twins!!"

Another added in the comments: "Your son is the image of you."

One even quipped: "Michael Owen’s son looks more like Michael Owen than Michael Owen."

Michael is notoriously private about his son James, who suffers from a rare condition called Stargardt disease.

The condition has caused massive degeneration of the youngster’s retina, leaving him clinically blind at age 13.

Given how it’s affected the teenager, Michael has been hesitant to talk about the condition and told The Times that he was concerned it would become a “big headline”.

Michael also shunned the spotlight during his daughter Gemma’s appearance on the hit ITV dating show, Love Island.

He opted of an appearance on the “Meet the parents” segment of the show, instead looking after Gemma’s beloved horses.

At the time, he told Sky Sports that his wife Louise would be attending instead and quipped: “My wife will do that duty…I'll represent the horses and she'll represent the daughter."

The ex-England star was right to be cautious about his daughter’s appearance on the show, with Gemma left heartbroken from her split with co-star Luca Bish just three months after the series finished.

Despite not finding true love, Gemma smiled brightly for the camera on Boxing Day alongside her family.

The 19-year-old who looked beautiful in her ivory bandeau top and matching trousers, as well as jewellery from her latest collection.

It seems little can keep the model and dressage rider down, as Gemma is in talks for her own spin-off show.

She revealed the exciting news at the Pretty Little Thing Christmas party, telling press: "Nothing is confirmed yet, but I’d definitely like to be back on TV soon." Sounds like must-watch telly to us!
