Stacey Dooley’s swearing on live Strictly show exposed by boyfriend Kevin ‘She went wrong’

Kevin Clifton explains how he ‘stitched up’ Stacey Dooley in 2018

Strictly Come Dancing pair Stacey Dooley, 33, and Kevin Clifton, 37, who are now dating, won the show in 2018. Recalling their time together, Kevin revealed his ex dance partner swore during their Samba routine live on the show after she made a mistake.

The show’s former professional dancer made the revelation as he discussed this year’s recently eliminated contestant Clara Amfo.

The latter became the fifth celebrity to leave the show earlier this month with dance partner Aljaz Skorjanec.

Ahead of her exit, Kevin said the Radio 1 DJ’s Samba reminded him of Stacey’s.

Speaking on his podcast The Kevin Clifton show, he revealed: “Stacey, when we did the Samba, she was in loads of feathers and quite an over the top outfit and she really went for it and just performed.

“There was a little bit in the middle, a tiny little bit, where she actually went wrong.

“Underneath her breath, she swore, and you know when you’re like, it’s live, but you can forget yourself.

“But, no one heard it because the mic wasn’t up, but underneath her breath she went, ‘Oh f**k’.

“I said to her, ‘Don’t swear, we’re on the BBC’ in the middle of the dance.”

He went on to say: “Technically, it wasn’t perfect, and she did do one tiny bit wrong, but she gave it a massive performance.

“Craig [Revel Horwood] was laughing afterwards and said, ‘I want to hire you for my next party darling!’

“Everyone loved the performance of it, Clara reminds me of that.”

In 2018, the couple went on to win the Glitterball trophy after an intense final against Joe Sugg, Ashley Robert, Faye Tozer and their dance partners.

Following Stacey’s split from her now ex-boyfriend Sam Tucknott after the show, the pair started dating.

The couple tend to keep details about their relationship out of the public eye, but sometimes share snaps together on social media.

Kevin recently opened up about how the pair really are away from the cameras.

The dancer said he had heard many rumours about themselves during lockdown including Stacey being pregnant, them being engaged as well as the duo reportedly having “big fights” at home.

Setting the record straight, he said the rumours were far from the truth.

He spilled: “In reality, we are the most boring couple in the history of the world.

“I will be sitting here doing my Mamet masterclass and saying, ‘What do you think about consciousness?’

“And Stacey does her work and then likes to sit and watch things like Selling Sunset on Netflix about estate agents in LA,” he added to The Guardian.

Catch Stacey on The Last Leg tonight at 10pm on Channel 4.
