Susan Boyle 2019: I Dreamed a Dream singer opens up on love life amid cheeky revelation
Susan Boyle, 58, shared a brief insight into her personal life during an appearance on Lorraine. Asked about having previously admitted to harbouring a crush on Piers Morgan, 54, the Britain’s Got Talent star told Lorraine Kelly, 59, she still holds a candle for the former judge. “His wife might not like this,” the Britain’s Got Talent star revealed. “I still like him a bit.
“I’ve grown up a bit,” she added, keeping her cards close to her chest.
Lorraine went on to joke she and Susan would never fight over men, saying: “You can have Piers, he’s yours, should you so wish.”
Susan burst into giggles, covering her face as she replied: “I don’t know what to say — for once I’m lost for words!”
The opera star also addressed her relationship status, telling the presenter she is currently single.
“I’m a single fish,” she said. “I’m happy.”
Meanwhile, Piers recently shared his response to finding out about Susan’s crush on him, telling Metro: “I’m privileged that Susan would say that.
“She is the greatest break-out star from any talent show in the world and the ultimate example of someone who dreamed a dream and finally got to realise it.
“If I played some small part in her amazing success then that makes me very happy,” he added.
Susan was the runner-up on Britain’s Got Talent back in 2009, with dance troupe Diversity being named the winners.
Her first audition blew away the judging panel, which included Piers at the time, and the audience as she sang an incredible rendition of I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables.
Piers in particular was stunned by the performance, telling Susan at the end of her audition: “When you stood there with that cheeky grin and said, ‘I want to be like Elaine Paige,’ everyone was laughing at you. No one is laughing now.”
The Britain’s Got Talent favourite went on to release seven studio albums, the most recent of which, Ten, dropped earlier this year and marked 10 years since her career took off on the show.
Nowadays, Susan Boyle lives in the ex-council house she grew up in in Blackburn, West Lothian.
With the earnings from her success, she bought herself a five-bedroom detached property on the other side of town, but found the new pad too posh for her liking.
She later moved back to her parents’ old house and the “plush” house is now occupied by her niece.
Susan recently returned to the spotlight after keeping a low profile for several years following her Asperger’s syndrome diagnosis in 2013.
