I had my first child at 20 – people say we look the same age and never believe she's my teen daughter

GENETICS work in mysterious ways.

For one mother and her teenage daughter, it has made people believe they are actually sisters.

TikTok star and social media influencer Brittany Xavier is used to people thinking she and her 15-year-old daughter Jadyn are the same age.

In a video posted to her social media, the now-mom of two panned the camera to show her teen daughter, who often appears in many of her videos and media outings.

The two looked almost identical, except for their hair color.

Brittany is a brunette, while Jadyn is a blonde.

Noticing the stark resemblance between Brittany and Jadyn, an astonished TikTok user commented: "Not me thinking this was a joke because you guys both look 20."

Many TikTok users also compared Brittany and Jadyn to the mother and daughter duo from Gilmore Girls, Lorelai and Rory.

According to Brittany, she and her teen daughter have a close relationship and all the struggles of being a young mom paid off.

Raising her as a single mom, Brittany worked full time and decided to pursue her dream of becoming an attorney on the side.

The two have now become TikTok staples, giving fans a glimpse into their glamorous life.

Elsewhere, a young mom by the name of Madison Smith was slammed for wearing crop tops and "wasting her youth."

A 24-year-old Smith took to TikTok to reveal the kinds of comments she gets all the time as a young mom.

Smith disclosed that she often gets told "you shouldn't wear clothes like that" and "your child deserves a better life."

Other comments included that she has "wasted [her] youth", to "have fun being a single mom" and that "babies raising babies" isn't for the best.

Fortunately, Smith also had people on her side who were quick to clap back at her critics.

One person wrote: "Yeah but while they're 50 and putting kids on the bus we'll be sitting on the beach with a drink in our hands cuz our kids are grown."

"Little do they know, being a young mom is probably one of the best things to have happened to most of us," another added.

"You know what's best for your child no one else does," someone else asserted.

"I can not even fathom how people can say those kinds of things, especially to a mom that’s obviously doing a great job!" another person added.
