Kate Middleton wore £1k ring with ‘great significance’ after Prince George pregnancy
Kate Middleton was given a sapphire and diamond engagement ring from Prince William when he proposed. When they married, the Duchess of Cambridge added a gold wedding band to her wedding finger.
Since joining the Royal Family in 2011, Kate has regularly worn both the rings on her wedding finger for official engagements.
Kate and Prince William have three children together, Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, two.
Shortly after her pregnancy with Prince George, the Duchess of Cambridge was spotted wearing a third ring.
The piece of jewellery has been worn next to her engagement ring and wedding band.
It has been reported that the style was a gift from the Duke to celebrate Prince George’s birth.
The small band is made from white gold and is decorated with diamonds, experts at Joshua James jewellery commented.
They said: “The third ring she wears is an eternity ring. Eternity rings are often used to mark special milestones in a relationship.
“In this case, it was a gift from her husband to mark the birth of their first child, Prince George.
“Made from 18ct white gold, it features 0.23ct of white diamonds.
“Kate’s eternity band comes from London-based designer Annoushka, and is valued at £1,200.”
Eternity rings are a common gift to celebrate milestones such as the birth of a child.
The royal will usually wear the three rings stacked on her wedding finger.
This is in line with tradition and the expert suggested the order of the rings also holds significance.
Many will choose to wear their wedding band at the bottom so it is closest to their hearts, they claimed.
This tradition is one that the mother-of-three has been seen to do over the years.
The experts added: “In terms of why she wears three rings on one finger, many women choose to wear all three rings (wedding, engagement and eternity) on their wedding finger following marriage.
“The order in which these are worn actually has a great significance.
“Wearing your wedding ring first means that it is closest to your heart, followed by the engagement and then eternity ring.
“It looks like Kate Middleton follows this tradition.”
