The ladies in the Royal Family are privy to a beautiful collection of jewels – some of which are hundreds of years old and worth millions of pounds. When they’re not attending state banquets or important events, the female royals like to step out wearing affordable designers or high street brands. Earlier this month, both Meghan Markle and Kate, Princess of Wales chose to wear a similar pair of dangly earrings, but one pair cost only £7.
When attending the Ripple of Hope Awards in New York City, Meghan chose to accessorise her custom-made white Louis Vuitton dress with a pair of gold dangly earrings from Carolina Herrera.
Carolina Herrera is a brand Meghan has worn many times before and it is known for its sophistication and casual elegance.
The jewels were the brand’s Kaleidoscope Earrings, and are gold plated, embellished with zirconite crystals in different shapes.
The earrings are said to retail for £157 or $190.
Kate, on the other hand, chose a pair of Accessorize earrings to complete her outfit for the royal’s Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey.
The Wales Family and several other Royal Family members coordinated in burgundy tones for the Together at Christmas service.
The Princess wore a burgundy coat by Eponine London, which was similar to the blue design she wore to COP26 last autumn.
She added matching high heels by Gianvito Rossi. The exact style is the Gianvito 105 pumps and they are suede shoes featuring a pointed toe and slim heel.
She accessorised with a pair of gloves which had a bow across the wrist – Kate previously wore this for Christmas Day in 2018.
Kate also carried a croc clutch bag in the same hue.
Her earrings were crafted in the same berry tones and looked extremely expensive, but royal fashion bloggers quickly noticed they were Accessorize’s Eclectic gem statement long drop earrings.
The website description for the jewels reads: “Show off these rich vibrant berry tones with these earrings.
“They’re crafted in a long drop profile, with a collection of eclectic stones.
“Simply style them with loose curls and watch the sparkles peep through as you mingle around the party.”
The earrings were originally priced at £14, but are currently on sale for £7.
This isn’t the first time Kate has worn more affordable earrings – royal fashion bloggers claim she has five other pairs of earrings from Accessorize.
Just last month, when visiting Scarborough, she completed her outfit with a pair of Accessorize’s Twisted Circle Drop Earrings, which at the time of purchase cost just £5.
In 2019, when Kate paid a visit to the RHS Garden Wisley, she wore a floral Emilia Wickstead dress and a pair of earrings known as the Filigree, which came from Accessorize once again.
Those earrings ended up going on sale for £1.50.
