Nike Readies the Air Max ZM950 For In-Line Release
After debuting in August by way of a Japan-exclusive colorway created in partnership with atmos, Nike‘s Air Max ZM950 is ready for its in-line release. A 25th anniversary homage to the beloved Air Max 95, the ZM950 blends classic style with updated tech/materials, and is set to release in two colorways: one a sporty mix of silver and “Chile Red,” the other a stark, serious “Black/Bright Crimson.”
Each pair features a sculpted synthetic upper with flowing lines that are equally as reminiscent of the Air Max 97 as they are the Air Max 95, plus a familiar AM95 toe cap. On the “Chile Red,” this is split between silver and black with red accents, while on “Black/Bright Crimson” it’s kept entirely tonal save for a silver Swoosh towards the heel. Tongues are made of black neoprene and embellished with a ZM950 graphic.
Although the upper is undeniably eye catching, the proverbial meat and bones of the shoe appear down below. Here, a sculpted EVA foam midsole mixes a Nike Sportswear-style Air Max 270 heel cushioning unit with a duo of Nike Running-esque Zoom Air units under the forefoot. “Chile Red’ uses this as an opportunity to blend light blue and red tones with a while base, and “Black/Bright Crimson” accents its murky heel and midfoot with bright red Zoom units. Both shoes are completed by a corresponding plastic midfoot shank.
The Nike Air Max ZM950 “Chile Red” and “Black/Bright Crimson” are both set to release via Nike Japan on October 10. The MSRP for each is set at a tax-included ¥21,450 JPY (approximately $203 USD).
