Prince William’s bizarre remark to Kate Middleton at Meghan Markle & Harry’s final royal event revealed by lip reader

PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle appeared at their final royal engagement in March this year stepping out alongside The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at Westminster Abbey.

But the Fab Four appeared "awkward" and barely spoke a word as they took their seats at the Commonwealth Day Service – and now a lip reader has revealed the bizarre remark Prince William made to Kate.

A fallout had been reported between the royal foursome over Megxit, which saw Harry and Meghan step down as senior members of the royal family earlier this year.

Royal expert and author Robert Lacey recalled the day in his book, Battle of Brothers, which reportedly caused a lot of upset behind the scenes.

He writes: "Nor could it be said that the two royal brothers made any great personal efforts to 'chum up' together once they found themselves seated close."

But despite onlookers picking up on the "awkward" encounter between the two couples, Robert revealed that William's "longest coherent sentence that TV-watching lipreaders could work out", had nothing to do with Harry at all.

Whispering to Kate, William apparently said: "This whole handshaking thing is weird. We're going to have to put a load of hand gel on after this."

While handshaking is no longer allowed due to coronavirus pandemic, the event took place before lockdown was introduced and before the changes in royal protocol – making the comment rather strange at the time.

Further detailing the event, Robert also explained that The Sussexes weren't included in the official procession into the Abbey as they were technically now "junior royals".

This meant they would have to find their seats with the rest of the guests and not arrive with their more senior relatives – which reportedly caused some issues.

They were "extremely angry and upset" when they found out they weren't on the list, according to Mirror online, but it was William who stepped in help ease the situation.

The solution was that the Cambridges would also skip the formal entrance so it didn't loos so bad for Harry and Meghan.

But there was a flaw in new plan as the orders of services, which said Kate and William would arrive with the Queen, had already been printed.

Lacey wrote: "So there was the snub in black and white – plainly set out for all to see."

According to Mirror,Buckingham Palace commented at the time and said there is "no set format" for the annual event.

Meanwhile, Meghan Markle may rein in ‘woke’ speeches after seeing Prince Harry’s relationship with family is at risk, expert says.

And Meghan Markle was a ‘massive problem’ for the royal family & wasn’t made to feel important enough, author claims.
