Shoot Some Holiday Hoops in Fear of God's Latest Nike Collection
Fear of God‘s love for the sport of basketball has never been in question, as founder Jerry Lorenzo has leveraged his relationship with Nike to create plenty of hoop-ready sneakers and apparel since the two first united in 2018. The latter category is set to receive a shot in the arm for the holiday season, with Fear of God again issuing a selection of covetable Nike Basketball wearables.
Influenced by retro on-court style, Lorenzo channels vintage garments with his latest Nike partnership. The Swoosh’s high-tech production capabilities grant the slouchy jersey shirts and baggy shorts cutting-edge textiles, without sacrificing the collections throwback motif or Lorenzo’s signature slouchy silhouettes.
A boxy bomber jacket, short-sleeved shirt, adjustable track pants and tall white socks ensure the capsule is equally wearable to conventional FoG collections, though the occasional NBA logos that grace the goods ensure that they remain rooted in basketball heritage.
“These garments provoke a subconscious desire,” Lorenzo said in a statement. “Each references an authentic piece of an athlete’s wardrobe; these are functional items that have become iconic because of the effortless cool of the people who wore them in the ’80s and ’90s. It was different then, it wasn’t so much about the garments in the way that it is today. It was really about the guys. They could have been stepping on the backs of their shoes, because they just didn’t feel like putting them on… but it just looked so cool.”
The latest Fear of God collaboration hits Nike’s website and select stores on November 9.
Nike has more special basketball goods coming up, as evidenced by Yoon Ahn’s recent AMBUSH collaboration teaser.
