Sophie, Countess of Wessex and Prince Edward tied the knot in 1999 after six years of dating. The Countess first began working in the Royal Family after the wedding.

Following their wedding, Sophie was given Her Royal Highness status and soon began working as a senior royal.

She has taken on growing responsibilities over the years and was given the additional title of Countess of Forfar to use in Scotland two years ago.

In 2019, the royal also was given more responsibility as she took over the role of Patronage of The Chartered Management Institute from Prince Philip.

During the coronavirus, Sophie has continued her royal duties from a safe distance using video.

When the Countess makes a public appearance, many royal fans will eagerly watch to see what she is wearing.

Sophie has a unique sense of style which she has showcased during engagements, according to director of fashion buying at CHO clothing Gareth O’Rourke.

“Sophie, Countess of Wessex is known to be extremely hard working in her role to support the Queen and her involvement in various charity work,” he told Express.co.uk.

“She has always been known for her elegant yet simple fashion sense.”

Sophie has seemed to take on more responsibilities while in the Royal Family and her role could continue to grow.

It is thought Prince Edward is set to become the Duke of Edinburgh in the future, which would make Sophie the Duchess of Edinburgh.

Over the last 20 years, the expert suggested Sophie’s style has become more eye-catching.

By opting for some bold looks recently, the mother-of-two could have hinted at her changing role.

Gareth continued: “It’s no surprise that we haven’t seen her in flamboyant or stand out pieces up until recently.

“Her bold outfits could suggest her newly added responsibility within the Royal Family.

“It could also show the importance of her appealing to a wider audience now that she is in line to become the Duchess of Edinburgh.”

As well as attending official royal engagements, Sophie will often support issues that are important to her.

She has recently made virtual appearances to speak with frontline workers and to attend a meeting to discuss the work of female peacebuilders in conflict zones.

When making important appearances, Sophie could also use her fashion to make a statement.

Gareth claimed the royal could choose strong looks to gather more attention when she discusses important topics.

He continued: “Bold fashion statements are a great way for the Countess of Wessex to gain media attention and raise awareness of her charity work.”
