Beauty fan uses t-shirt to get bouncy blow-dry – with results ‘like Dyson Airwrap’

The Dyson Airwrap is one of the most wanted hair tools for creating a salon-like blowdry look, but it doesn’t come cheap at nearly £450. But what if we told you that there’s a way to get similar results without breaking the bank?

That’s exactly what one woman is claiming, after sharing her hack for achieving perfect bouncy hair at home, using nothing more than a t-shirt and some bobbles.

The creator, named My Pawfect Family on TikTok, is already famed for her incredible head of hair. Not only is it super long, but her curls always look flawless and full of volume.

Her secret? She doesn’t use heat styling tools. Instead, she secures her hair in place using a DIY t-shirt ‘donut’ before sleeping in it overnight to reveal curls worthy of a salon blowdry.

In the clip that’s been viewed over 400K times, the user jokes that her hack is so good, people think she’s used Dyson’s best-selling Airwrap Styler, £449 here.

“You left your Dyson airwrap at my house,” she writes on the clip, while combing through her long luscious locks.

“We ain’t spending $500 on something we can do with a t-shirt,” she continues.

On her TikTok account, the user has also shared an in-depth tutorial for how she created the DIY hair donut using just a t-shirt and some bobbles.

First, she takes a normal t-shirt, lays it flat on the floor and starts rolling it from the bottom to form a sausage shape. She then uses hair bobbles to stop it unraveling and secures the two ends with a thicker bobble.

She explains how using two t-shirts to create a thicker donut will give you smooth hair with a Megan Markle-style flick, whilst one t-shirt will create more defined curls.

In a separate clip, she explains how to apply the donut to her hair. Firstly, she sections off the top of her hair and spritzes it with water.

After placing the donut on her head, she wraps her hair over and under it, layer by layer, starting at the top, until all her hair is wrapped around the donut. To create the best results, she uses a small brush to comb the hair over the donut, smoothing it out as she goes.

She also advises to wrap the hair tightly, telling fans: “Every time you’re pulling it through, make sure you’re pulling it tight, because if it’s not tight, then it’s going to loosen up.”

While it may seem like a lot of faff, the user claims it only takes seven minutes to create the look. Then all you need to do is go to bed, unravel it in the morning and enjoy perfect curls.

If it’ll save us splashing out over £400, we’ll definitely give it a try.
