Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith’s relationship has been a topic of discussion for years. Rumors of an open relationship and side flings have always been a part of the conversation when it comes to these two Hollywood elites. Now, they are making headlines after singer August Alsina came forward and claimed that he had been in a years-long relationship with Jada. So, let’s take a look back at the Smiths’ relationship through the years.

How long have Will and Jada been together?

Will and Jada met way back in the 90s when she auditioned to be on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. She didn’t land the role but she made an impact on Will. Later, he saw her on A Different World and went to a taping to meet her. Instead of meeting Jada, he fell for the woman who was set to introduce him to her, Sheree Zampino. He went on to marry Zampino and have a child with her.

Later, he reconnected with Jada at a party and it led to him realizing he was in the wrong marriage.

The day after he and Zampino agreed to get a divorce, Will called Jada. The two got married on Dec. 31, 1997 but it wasn’t exactly what Jada wanted.

“I cried all night long because I was pregnant, my life was never going to be the same,” she said in an episode of Red Table Talk. “I didn’t want to get married. I never wanted to be married. I didn’t want to have a wedding either. It was a horrible wedding. It was a mess.”

Has Will ever cheated on Jada?

Throughout their relationship, there have been rumors of infidelity, but in an episode of Red Table Talk, Jada revealed that Will has never cheated on her.

“I’m asked a lot about, ‘Is there infidelity in your relationship with Will?’” she said. “And it’s like, ‘No, but there’ve been other betrayals of the heart that have been far bigger than I could even think in regards to an infidelity.’”

Whatever Will did caused Jada to mentally leave the relationship.

“I was devastated even worse than a divorce,” she said. “We broke up within our marriage and got back together.”

What is August Alsina claiming happened between him and Jada?

Recently, Alsina did an interview with The Breakfast Club’s Angela Yee and revealed that he and Jada had an intimate relationship.

“I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life, and I truly and really, really deeply love and have a ton of love for her,” he said. “I devoted myself to it, I gave my full self to it — so much so to the point that I can die right now and be OK with knowing that I truly gave myself to somebody.”

According to Alsina, Will was OK with him dating Jada.

“I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership … he gave me his blessing,” he said.

The Smith camp has denied Alsina’s claims.
