Inside Michelle Keegans Australia trip filming secret project

Former Coronation Street starMichelle Keegan ’s latest on-screen project has been revealed.

The 34 year old,who recently sparked rumours she’s returning to Our Girl when she jetted off on an “adventure”, has secured a role in the new six-part series Ten Pound Poms.

Created by the team behind Netflix's Sex Education, the BBC period drama will tell the story of a group of Brits who have swapped post-war Britain for a new life in Australia during the 1950s.

And, according to a source, the upcoming project is said to be a “dream” for Michelle.

“Michelle has always had one big dream, which is appearing in a period drama and Ten Pound Poms will let her dip her toe in those past times,” a friend of the star toldThe Sun’s Bizarre TV column.

For the role, Michelle will work with screenwriter Danny Brocklehurst, who she has previously teamed up with on shows including Sky Max’s Brassic and BBC One’s Ordinary Lies.

While discussing the show, Danny said: “It is a big, bold character piece about what it means to start again, to be an outsider in a new land.

“It asks questions about success and failure, identity, parenthood and belonging.

“The assisted migration programme is a little-known part of British and Australian history but offers endless stories about the people who travelled to the other side of the world in search of a better life.”

Despite the exciting announcement, with filming taking place 10,000 miles away in Australia, the star is set to spend more time away from her husbandMark Wright.

The A-List couple, who are currently renovating their £3.5million Essex mansion, have often spent months at a time away from one another due to their busy work schedules in the UK and LA.

In fact, back in March, former The Only Way Is Essex star revealed thathe’d turned down a job offer in Hollywood because he didn’t want to leave his wife of seven years alone at home.

After moving into the world of presenting, the 35 year old explained that he’d been asked to host a dating show in the US but declined the offer.

“We love LA but we are not moving back there, not yet anyway,” he told The Sun.

“I was actually meant to host a really big dating show out there a few months ago but I couldn’t do it because I had to be in a bubble for three months and I wouldn’t have been able to leave so I had to say no.”
