Kate Middleton and Prince William, both 39, are second-in-line to the throne after Prince Charles, 73, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, 74. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge married on April 29, 2011 in Westminster Abbey. Ever since then, they have dominated the headlines around the world for the Royal Family.

With the couple sharing 2.2 million Instagram hashtags between them, they are clearly where the popularity lies among the royals.

This is nearly six times more than the average for all royal couples, except Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, on the contrary, share 2.4 million hashtags.

However, Kate, who is famous for her signature silky brown mane and simple yet chic style, is the most Instagrammable royal woman on her own.

She fetches a whopping 1.3 million hashtags by herself.

The research, by photography experts Printique, analysed Instagram hashtags for 24 of the most popular royal couples in the world.

This was to discover the most Instagrammable royal couple of all time.

A spokesperson for Printique commented on the findings for Express.co.uk.

“Prince William and Kate Middleton reveal their huge global influence through their position as the second-in-line to the throne.

“The duo, as future King and Queen Consort of England, have done an incredible job of revitalising and repopularising the Crown in people’s eyes.

“They have given it a younger, fresher and more stylish attainability.

“Meanwhile, they have still maintained the quiet and consistent regality that has allowed the monarchy to endure throughout the centuries.”

Kent Gavin, worked as a royal photographer for the Daily Mirror and has spent years photographing several generations of the Royal Family.

According to Gavin, William and Kate are changing the way senior royals operate and share their lives with the public.

He told the Mirror: “Kate and William are totally different and operate in a totally different way.

“They’re great.

“It’s the best thing the Royal Family could have.”

Gavin believes William and Kate’s approach is going to play a role in helping the monarchy adapt to, and thrive in the modern age.

Still, he doesn’t think their impact on the public compares to that of William’s late mother, Princess Diana.

“There will never be another Diana,” he added.
