My partner knows his son does drugs but he won't do anything about it

DEAR DEIDRE: I DON’T touch drugs and neither does my partner, although he smoked weed when he was younger.

But last night, I saw his youngest son buy drugs and bring them back to his older brother.

That night I could smell weed coming from his room.

The surprise came when my partner already knew.

He refuses to ban his son from smoking in the house, saying it’s better for him to keep an eye on it.

I’m 51 and my partner is 53, while his sons are 21 and 16.

DEIDRE SAYS: While many think cannabis is harmless, I’m afraid the reality is way off. Not only is it illegal to possess cannabis, it can also lead to harder more harmful drugs. So turning a blind eye won’t help.

Encourage your partner to talk to his son about it. He should explain that while it makes users feel relaxed, it can also trigger mental health problems and brain damage – especially in the young.
