Netflix star tries sun-tanning her bumhole to see if it boosts energy

As far as wellness trends go, spreading your butt cheeks to sun your bumhole must be up there with the most bizarre.

But some health 'experts' say the queer practice boosts sexual energy and even celebrities like Avengers star Josh Brolin have given it a whirl.

They claim that you receive "more energy" in 30 seconds of sunlight than you would in an entire day.

On Netflix's reality series Bling Empire, Kelly Mi Li was seen laid on her back, raising her legs to the skies and tanning where the sun doesn't (usually) shine.

When AsiaOne asked her if it had now become a regular practice for her, the 36-year-old replied: "No, no, it's silly.

"But hey, if somebody wants to do it, there is no harm in it.

"You're not harming anybody, so suntan all you want. I probably wouldn't try it again… I don't feel any different."

"Perineum sunning" gained in popularity several years ago. It is said to have derived from an ancient Taoist practice.

Some people lie on their back with their legs spread wide in the air while others face away from the sun and lean over so the rays have direct access.

Kelly said she only bathed her butt for about 15 seconds and noticed no real benefits.

Also unimpressed was Josh Brolin who took to Instagram in 2019 to heed the following warning.

"Tried this perineum sunning that I’ve been hearing about and my suggestion is DO NOT do it as long as I did," he wrote

"My pucker hole is crazy burned and I was going to spend the day shopping with my family and instead I’m icing and using aloe and burn creams because of the severity of the pain.

"I don’t know who the f**k thought of this stupid s**t but f**k you nonetheless. Seriously."

But according to some people who practice it, the point of this routine is to give your body an intense dose of vitamin D.

Influencer Metaphysical Meagan claimed that “perineum sunning” helps to get “creativity flowing” and aids sleep.

The self-described “healer” previously said on her Instagram page: "Many of you have been asking about the benefits of this practice: 30 seconds of sunlight on your butthole is the equivalent of a full day of sunlight with your clothes on."

She went on: "Things I’ve noticed personally in my reality since I’ve implemented this:

“Surges of energy almost immediately, better sleep, better connection to my sexual energy and control of my life force, so much creativity flowing through my life, attracting my desires and intentions with ease, attracting soul tribe and people who are on the same frequency and wavelength as me."

She added: “I’m spending a maximum of five minutes in the morning doing this.”

The trend joins a long line of genital wellness ideas which also include sitting over a pot of boiling water to steam your bits and sticking jade eggs up the vagina.

Regarding perineum sunning, Nazanin Saedi, director of the Jefferson Laser Surgery and Cosmetic Dermatology Center, told Health.com. “As a dermatologist, I cannot recommend any sun exposure without sun protection."

Others say it is dangerous given that area of skin is particularly sensitive, which could lead to a higher risk fo cancer.

And with horror stories of burnt anuses doing the rounds, it's probably advisable not to try this one at home.
