The mother-of-six said: ‘My family and I were worried I wouldn’t get to see my grandchildren grow up. They were scared I would have serious health issues.’

Describing the benefits of her weight loss, Claire said: ‘I felt like before I wouldn’t get the chance to be with my grandchildren. I get to join in now, run around with them, even being able to get to go on the swing, it is amazing.

‘I wouldn’t have been able to do anything with them before. I entertain them with everything now. I do everything I can because I know what it’s like not being able to.’

Claire began to comfort eat when she lost her mother. When she decided she wanted to lose weight her sister took her to a Slimming World class and she hasn’t looked back since.

At her biggest she hated clothes and dreaded special occasions and having to dress up. But she has now overhauled her lifestyle and feels amazing.

Claire added: ‘I now cook everything at home from scratch, as a family we plan meals, it is a complete lifestyle change.

‘I love making pastas, curries, so many lovely meals for my family. My kids and husband are so proud.’

She added: ‘I have made incredible friendships at Slimming World, I have a friend in my group who has become like a mother to me, they mean the world to me. I would tell anyone to just go along and do it. We are a family not just a group, it is amazing.

‘I’m much more active now, I love playing with my grandchildren and going to a boot camp, I wouldn’t have believed I ever would be able to.

‘I love going clothes shopping now, it’s fabulous, I have so many options and I take everyone shopping with me.’
