A 114-year-old woman has revealed her simple tips for living a long and happy life – including never having alcohol, working, and always cooking at home.
More than a decade after marking her milestone birthday, Elizabeth Francis is still happier than ever, and she credits it to her faith, homemade meals, and long-lasting friendships.
The Houston, Texas-based woman has now shared the keys to staying youthful and healthy, no matter how old you are.
The supercentenarian has ‘never had cancer or any heart disease’ and continues to live her life to the fullest by doing these four things.

Elizabeth currently lives with her 94-year-old daughter, Dorothy Williams, in a private residence where caregivers come to the home to visit both women every day.
And after 114 years, Elizabeth still loves being around people and credits it as one of the things that has helped her live so long.
Ethel Harrison, 68, Francis’ granddaughter, said that Elizabeth has always relied on her family to keep her feeling youthful.
Ethel told Today: ‘She enjoyed her family. We would always have her over. We’re always doing things together as a family unit.
‘[It’s] interaction and just having love for one another and just being present.
‘Try to do the best thing you can for everybody. Love everybody,’ Elizabeth said.
Ethel added: ‘It’s just amazing. We’re so grateful that she’s still here, and my mom, who’s her daughter — she only had one child — is still alive also.’

The 114-year-old always took care of her garden in her backyard.
She grew her own vegetables, including collard greens, mustard greens, carrots, and okra.
And after grabbing the vegetables from right outside her home, she would bring them inside and use them to cook.
She always had homemade, warm meals ready for her family.
Ethel said it was because she ‘enjoyed cooking,’ adding that she doesn’t recall Elizabeth ever going to a fast food restaurant.
She often made chicken and okra with rice.
Elizabeth told the outlet: ‘I cooked everything. If they’ll eat it, I’ll cook it.’

The 114-year-old worked in the coffee shop of a TV station for 20 years.
According to Ethel, she was a ‘hard worker.’
Ethel told Today: ‘That’s what I remember most about her. Even when she retired, she still would work. She did domestic work, but she was always working.
‘Even though she didn’t make a lot, she saved her money. She didn’t just go out and just buy things.’
Ethel added that her great-great-grandmother frequently inspires her and hopes that she too will live that long.
