These four films star great dogs that we promise live happily ever after | The Sun
WHAT better way to enjoy a Feel Good Friday than by watching a film with a canine star.
Saturday 26th August marks National Dog Day. It's a chance to celebrate man’s best friend.
They can be miniature, giant or somewhere in the middle. All are worthy of being celebrated.
It’s been reported that over a quarter of UK adults have a dog.
There’s an estimated 10.2 million pet dogs in the UK alone.
That’s a lot of dogs to celebrate this National Dog Day.

In honour of this joyous day, Sun Bingo has rounded up some of the silver screen’s most underappreciated pooches and given them the spotlight that they have always deserved.
We solemnly promise that all of the dogs featured in this article make it through their respective films and live to tell their tails!
You’ve Got Mail
Doggy star: Brinkley the golden retriever
This floppy-eared star is vital to the plot. The audience realise that Meg Ryan’s Kathleen Kelly and Tom Hank’s Joe Fox are emailing each other BECAUSE the emails are about Brinkley.
He loves the streets of New York, eating pizza and bagels, and he is a great catcher.

Brinkley is the only detail of Joe’s life that he shares with Kathleen via email.
That’s how Kathleen is able to work out that Joe is NY152, as he shouts “Brinkley” in the park in the final scene.
Back to the Future
Doggy star: Einstein the sheepdog
Einstein goes through a lot in the trilogy.
He becomes the first living being to time travel in Back to the Future I.
He’s placed in a suspended animation kennel in Back to the Future II.
Finally, by Back to the Future III, he’s survived multiple timelines and villains, remaining a loyal companion no matter what mischief Doc gets into.
We’re told that he gets two walks a day and only likes canned dog food.

Legally Blonde
Doggy star: Bruiser the Chihuahua
Bruiser Woods is iconic.
You might think he’s just another accessory to Elle Woods but as this film teaches us, don’t judge a book by its cover.
He’s the only friend Elle has while she finds her feet at Harvard.
His outfits are fabulous and he knows how to strut.
He’s a Gemini and a vegetarian.
It’s Elle’s determination to get Bruiser’s mother to attend her wedding that kick starts the action in Legally Blonde II.
The doggy actor, Moonie, played Bruiser in both films and lived to the grand age of 18 years old.

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
Doggy star: Baxter the border terrier
Baxter is a mysterious canine. He seems to have a rich and full life.
Not only is he wise, “like a miniature Buddha”, but he can also speak Spanish.
CATCH UP WITH SUN BINGO'S CHAT HOST LEXI
This pup keeps things humble, however, reverting to his true doggy nature by eating a whole wheel of cheese and pooping in the fridge.
He’s not lost the common touch.
Things seem to take a dark turn when Baxter is in a confrontation on a bridge.
However, as promised, Baxter proves that cats aren’t the only creature with multiple lives.
