No winter coats here! York races revellers take advantage of unseasonal balmy weather to flash the flesh in crop tops and daring hemlines

  • Glamorous racegoers donned trendy two-pieces and flirty summer frocks for the York races on Friday
  • Unseasonably warm 20C weather meant racegoers could give their strappy dresses another outing
  • October Finale Meeting takes place today and tomorrow at York Racecourse, marking the end of the season

Glamorous revellers pulled out all the fashion stops in trendy two-pieces and flirty summer frocks as they made the most of the October sunshine at the York races today.

The unseasonably warm 20C weather meant racegoers could give their floaty tea dresses and strappy tops one last outing before winter.

Unlike other race meets, there is no strict dress code for the October Finale Meeting at York Racecourse, so women have been able to take fashion risks in printed playsuits and midriff-baring ensembles.

Matchy, matchy! Glamorous revellers pulled out all the fashion stops in trendy two-pieces and flirty summer frocks as they made the most of the October sunshine at the York Races today. Printed perfection! Whether it was a lime green sundress (left) or classic black and white (centre and right), patterns were all the rage for revellers arriving at York Racecourse on Friday. Today is the start of the October Finale Meeting

Power couples: Others decided for more classic race day looks, with demure A-line dresses, sensible cardigans and delicate fascinators all on display. Pictured, two couples arrive hand-in-hand at York Racecourse today

Here come the girls! Racegoers gave their strappy dresses (left, centre and right) one last outing before winter

One woman stepped out in a daring black plunging blazer jacket, tied together by clasps across the chest and worn without a top underneath.

Her friend looked equally ready for Friday night in a black off-the-shoulder cocktail dress with towering heels.

Personal style: There were a range of looks on display at the races, from figure-flattering leather trousers and a white corset top (left) to a bold patterned dress worn with carefully clashing accessories, including a hat (right)

Make mine a mini! Thigh-skimming hemlines were on display as racegoers tapped into one of the season’s biggest trends

The men almost exclusively opted for one of two race-ready looks: a blazer and chinos or a suit, both worn with shirt and tie.

The October Finale Meeting at York Racecourse takes place today and tomorrow and is, as the name suggests, the final event of the season. Tomorrow will see the Coral Finale Race Trophy awarded.

Alongside the main event on the track, spectators at today’s event can browse a countryside market and watch a duck herding display.

It is a busy day for horse racing today with meets also taking place at Newmarket and Chepstow.

Getting into the spirit! A gaggle of friends beamed for the cameras as they arrived at York Races in the October sunshine
