    COSTA MYSTERY OFFER

Diego Costa has been offered a deal until the end of the season by one of the Premier League's top six, reports claim.

Arsenal were linked with a move for the former Chelsea man last month.

But Sky Sports say the unnamed club will not land Costa on the proposed terms as he is looking for a longer contract.

Clubs in Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia are also keen and Costa is holding out for at least 18 months and £13million paid over that duration.

      ARTETA ON DEADLINE DAY

Mikel Arteta was asked to sum up the Arsenal transfer business this window to which he said: "ask me later."

He also hopes there are no nasty surprises later today.

I can’t answer that question until probably after tonight because there are things to do to get done.
Sometimes I do [like deadline day], sometimes I don’t! It is what it is, at least when you know what you want to do, what you want to achieve, it is easier. Hopefully we won’t have any bad surprises and we can control what we want to do.

      WILLOCK MOVE?

It sounds like Joe Willock could be on the move.

Newcastle have been linked with a few midfielders this morning, and Willock is another on their radar, according to PA.

They claim a move is 'now very likely'.

Another to keep an eye on.

      TOO SOON

It also appears that tomorrow's trip to Molineux will come too early for Kieran Tierney and Bukayo Saka.

We don't know yet [if they'll return]. Today we've got a training session and they haven't been able to train with us yet, so I think it will be really difficult for them. But I don't know, we're going to try to last-minute see how they are feeling.

      BREAKING: LOAN DEPARTURE ANNOUNCED

Arsenal have announced youngster Matt Smith has joined Charlton on loan for the remainder of this season.

He was on loan at League One rivals Swindon Town but has been recalled to join the London club.

A club statement read: "The 20-year-old midfielder, who has been at the club since under-9 level, had been on loan with Swindon since August and moves to south London to continue his development.

"Matt was a regular in the under-23s last season and frequently trained with the first-team squad. His fine performances were rewarded with his selection into the first-team matchday squad on six occasions after the season’s restart, including being an unused substitute in the Emirate FA Cup final victory over Chelsea.

"We wish Matt the best of luck during his time with Charlton Athletic."

      LOW SCORE

The 'top six' lowest scorers, Arsenal have added Martin Odegaard to their attacking ranks.

Will it just be a left-back they pursue today?

      NO FOX FOR AMN

Ainsley Maitland-Niles will NOT join Leicester as Arsenal do not want to strengthen a rival for the European place.

Southampton remain interested in the midfielder.

Arsenal will not let Maitland-Niles leave for Leicester as they don't want to strengthen a rival. Instead, Leicester will turn attention to Nathaniel Chalobah at Watford.

      GUEYE IN?

Rumours starting to gather pace that Idrissa Gueye could be on the move and a move back to the Premier League may be on.

The Senegalese has only had ten minutes of playing time in the last four PSG games and hasn't nailed down a permanent starting spot in the French capital.

And alongside Newcastle, Arsenal are linked with a late move for the midfielder.

Could anything come from it? Maybe not but we'll keep an eye on it.

      AMN LATEST

Ainsley Maitland-Niles favours a move to Leicester over moves to Southampton and Newcastle.

But the Gunners appear to want him to join Saints.

The St Mary's side are in discussions over AMN and Chelsea's Billy Gilmour.

While Leicester are looking for Maitland-Niles for their midfield.

      QUICK MOVERS

With little rumours kicking around about Arsenal, could it be there is nothing coming in at Arsenal?

Maybe. Nacho Monreal shared his story about joining Arsenal in 2013 when he got a TEXT from Santi Cazorla asking if he wanted to sign on deadline day.

      10 hours later, he signed.

      EMI MOVE?

Arsenal remain interested in signing Emi Buendia from Norwich.

But the 24-year-old has reportedly accepted that he is likely to have to wait until the summer to join the North London club, due to his £40million price-tag.

He has four red cards since the start of the 2018-2019 season, more than any other player in English football.

The midfield ace walked again after picking up cautions for fouls on Jonny Howson and George Saville at the weekend.

      CHRIST STAYING

Premier League clubs are set to miss out on Christian Eriksen this deadline day.

Inter Milan chief executive Giuseppe Marotta has added his voice to the growing sentiment of keeping the Dane.

Antonio Conte revealed last week how he wanted Eriksen to stay despite a floundering first 12 months in Milan.

And Marotta has insisted that Eriksen does not want to leave the Serie A giants.

He told DAZN: "As Antonio Conte said, if there are some players who are unhappy and want to find other clubs, it's not right to withhold them.

"We do not have any of those situations.

"Therefore, this is the squad we will have at our disposal until the end of the season.

"When you're in a big club, there are no starting players or deputies. There are just professionals who must answer to the coach and his decisions.

"A player can play less than one of his team-mates but still manage to be more influential.

"Over the course of the campaign, Eriksen too can have an important role in the team, whether he plays more or less."

      UN-WILL-ING

William Saliba said he was "hurt" by the way he was treated at Arsenal.

Saliba is on loan at Nice from the Gunners and says he still "believes in himself" despite his Emirates experience.

He told TF1: "I really, really, really didn’t think that I would be transferred for €30m, to think that I would arrive, where people were expecting a lot from me, the fans excited about me and you find yourself in the reserves, play zero, zero nothing in the Europa League or the league.

"I was in the squad once in the league cup. It hurt me, it affected me.

"I don’t think I left too early. When you feel ready you have to go. I don’t think I left too early. These things happen. I believe in myself."

      HAK A DEAL

Achraf Hakimi could be on the move to the Premier League, according to reports.

Hakimi has enjoyed a fruitful spell at Inter Milan since joining from Real Madrid.

But Inter have been hit hard financially by the Covid-19 pandemic and posted a loss of 102million euros for year ending June 30.

And with concerns over their financial viability, the Athletic claim the Moroccan full-back would be open to a move to the Premier League.

Though it is likely any move would happen in the summer.

The 22-year-old has six goals and five assists since his switch and is contracted until 2025.

      WANT THE FOXES

It would appear Maitland-Niles wants a Leicester move over moves to Southampton and Newcastle.

The Athletic's David Ornstein tweeted this morning that Arsenal were in contact with all three over the weekend.

But AMN seems set on a move to the Foxes, with West Brom declaring themselves out.

      MAN OF THE MOMENT

As we told you earlier this morning, Leicester City have joined the race for Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

All three are looking for a loan for AMN and it would seem his exit is imminent.

      BIG MISS

There was a big gap in the Gunners line-up in the draw with United at the weekend – but it wasn’t any new players.

Gilberto Silva believed Bukayo Saka’s absence was pivotal in the Arsenal side on Saturday.

The 19-year-old is nursing a small injury and Silva believes his energy was missed.

      TAKING THE BISS

Yves Bissouma put in another wonderful display for Brighton last night as they beat Spurs 1-0.

He was trending high on Twitter, with many Gunners fans urging the club to make a move for the midfielder.

      One said: "Please, @Arsenal. I won’t ask for anything else. I promise. #Bissouma #AFC"

Another posted: "In the summer i hope Arsenal is going for Bissouma from Brighton – he's a machine at the defensive midfield"

While another tried to get Mikel Arteta involved: "@m8arteta I hope you watched Yves Bissouma. What player he is, so good."
