Ben Simmons’ sister sparks speculation with cryptic trade tweet

Ben Simmons’ sister is finding out how quickly NBA rumor season can spiral.

“Can’t wait for trade news on Tuesday…….” Olivia Simmons tweeted out on Monday.

That’s all it took to stoke the social media masses as she was flooded with requests for details. Ben Simmons, 24, has been a constant source of trade rumors with the 76ers as his relationship and ability to play alongside fellow star Joel Embiid has been closely monitored.

The 76ers have become a regular-season force that has failed to make a playoff run in recent years. With Simmons sidelined with knee and back injuries this postseason, the 76ers were swept out of the NBA bubble in the first round by the Celtics.

That led to widespread changes in the organization with Doc Rivers replacing Brett Brown as coach and Daryl Morey coming over from Rockets as team president. Morey’s first major move was trading Al Horford to the Thunder, which freed up cap space for future moves.

There have been whispers of the team’s interest in Rockets star James Harden with Simmons mentioned as the centerpiece of a deal headed back to Houston. And the Sixers did select Kentucky point guard Tyrese Maxey in the first round of the NBA Draft on Wednesday. However, Morey insists the 76ers plan to keep Simmons and Embiid together.

“We got to get rid of that noise. We love Ben and Joel,” Morey told 97.5 The Fanatic. “I think Sam Hinkie said it when he came out of his groundhog hole, that fans went through the process for those two players. Why would we try and ship them out? Doc and I are here for a reason.”

Simmons’ sister brought some noise back, however.

Olive has since tweeted:

“Because nobody wants to hear anything on a Monday. Fkn relax guys.”

“Who tryna start off their day with some wine. Some of y’all in my mentions need it……..”

Yet, she has not deleted the original tweet that is fueling speculation.
