PALACE PIER (Queen Anne Stakes, Tuesday)

I know he’s a short price but only the horsebox breaking down on the way to Ascot can stop him winning this.

He’s the top-rated horse in the country and showed why when winning the Lockinge at Newbury last time with lots left in the tank.

He is lightly raced for a four-year-old and there’s every chance that he can find more improvement on what will be just his ninth run.

Current odds: 4-7

ST MARK’S BASILICA (St James’s Palace Stakes, Tuesday)

On anything but rattling fast ground — and that seems unlikely this summer! — this Ballydoyle flyer looks hard to stop.

He was impressive in taking the French 2,000 Guineas on his three-year-old debut.

He beat Poetic Flare eight lengths on his final start last season and showed that short of form at Longchamp without having a hard race.

There should be a lot more to come. He may go for the French Derby but the lure of Royal Ascot will be hard to resist for Team Ballydoyle.

Current odds: 9-4

STRADIVARIUS (Ascot Gold Cup, Thursday)

This grand stayer can join the great Yeats by winning four Ascot Gold Cups.

Frankie Dettori was delighted with him after winning the Sagaro Stakes here at the end of April.

He came up against racefit rivals but his class was enough to land the victory comfortably.

With no rising star in the staying ranks he can land another title while he clearly still loves the game at the age of seven.

Current odds: 6-4
