Conor McGregor celebrates bumper $600m deal as Notorious sells majority stake in 'liquid gold' Proper No12 whiskey

CONOR MCGREGOR has celebrated officially turning Proper No.12 into 'liquid gold' following the sale of a majority stake in the whiskey company.

On Tuesday, it was announced Proximo Spirits has purchased a controlling interest in the UFC star's whiskey company.

The deal, which will see McGregor remain the face of the brand, is said to be north of £423million ($600m).

An elated McGregor, 32, said: "Wow!!

"In just under 3 years, we went from a dream to the biggest Irish Whiskey in the world!

"A HUGE step for Proper No. Twelve today as we now forge ahead to the next phase of our company's history!

"Thanks to my Irish Whiskey fans all across the globe! Proper Twelve is my baby for life, and I am just warming up the barrels here!

"What I have in store for you all will not only take Proper Twelve to the absolute pinnacle of Irish Whiskey! But of all spirits!

"Next stop – Worldwide domination!!!

"I wake up each day with focus, drive, and a commitment to be the best in sport and in business – and the money follows. Never count me out!"

News of the blockbuster payday for The Notorious comes after he donated £363,000 ($500,000) to the Boys & Girls Club of Acadiana in Lousiana.

A statement from B&GC said: “This investment is a gamechanger!

"Thank you, Conor, for helping to ensure that our kids have what they need to grow and thrive this summer.”

McGregor is currently gearing up for a blockbuster trilogy fight with former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier.

The Irishman's rubber match with The Diamond will headline UFC 264 in Las Vegas on July 10.

McGregor will bid to avenge the brutal second-round KO defeat he suffered to his old featherweight rival in January at UFC 257 in Abu Dhabi.

Ireland's first UFC champion is champing at the bit to settle the score with Poirier, saying: "One apiece now with a trilogy bout for all the marbles! Wow! Exciting!

“Not a trilogy I was expecting, nor the tactical affair I was anticipating, but I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t meant to be.

“This is exactly how this was always meant to be! Buzzing!!”
