England star Kalvin Phillips hopeful of new deal with Leeds, after Man Utd interest, and enjoying playing under Marsch

LEEDS UNITED star Kalvin Phillips is hopeful of a new deal to stay at the club long-term, despite interest from Manchester United.

The England international, 26, currently earns around £38,000-per-week, but has just two years left on his contract.

It is expected that he would be given a huge pay rise to warn off any potential suitors.

And Phillips is more open to staying at Elland Road than ever, which will be a bitter blow to the Red Devils.

The Yorkshire Pirlo is happy to be back in the first team fold again after an injury-hit campaign.

He also feels positive about Leeds' future following the appointment of Jesse Marsch.

Phillips is determined to commit to his boyhood side before the summer to end any speculation about his future.

Liverpool, Man Utd, and Aston Villa were all linked with a move for the midfielder.

While Newcastle are also said to have entered the race to acquire his services.

Back in January, Leeds rebuffed West Ham's attempts to sign the Euro 2020 hero by rejecting a £55million offer for their talisman.

SunSport previously reported that Phillips' agent Kevin Sharp was eager for Leeds to offer his client a new contract after they rejected bids for the star who was happy they had done so.

He said: “Kalvin was pleased that Leeds turned those offers down.

“He has never asked to leave Leeds in all his time with the club and has no intention of doing that now or in the summer.

“But I understand the offer that was turned down would have been a record for both buying and selling clubs.

“So I would hope that Leeds would honour their promise of a new contract for him which would then end any unsettling speculation about his future this summer.”
