Everton star Richarlison claims Thiago IGNORED his apology after horror tackle on Liverpool midfielder in derby

EVERTON forward Richarlison has revealed that Liverpool ace Thiago Alcantara ignored his apology for the gruesome tackle that left him injured.

The 23-year-old was sent off in the 90th minute of the Merseyside derby in October at Goodison Park where the two teams played out a 2-2 draw.

Richarlison's challenge was so horrific that BT Sport pundit Steve McManaman was unable to watch the replays.

Thiago was subsequently out of action for over two months as he injured his knee in just his second outing for the Reds.

The Spain international missed a total of 16 matches for Liverpool, with Richarlison sent death threats over the incident.

Richarlison issued a public apology to Thiago, but he has since declared that it fell on deaf ears.

And he also stated that Thiago ignored him during the reverse fixture at Anfield in a YouTube interview with with Brazilian journalist Thiago Asmar.

He said: "I made that challenge on Thiago and got sent off. My goodness.

"Then I went on Instagram to apologise and such. He only saw it. I said 'I’m going to delete this message too, since he doesn’t want to reply'.

"Then I went there and deleted it. He didn’t answer, no.

"Then there was the derby now, at their home, he didn’t look at my face, I didn’t look at him, either.

"The game goes on. He ignored the pigeon (Richarlison's nickname in Brazil)."

Speaking at the time, the ex-Watford man said: "What happened today was a fatality from sheer over-dedication.

“I did not enter that dispute with the intention of hurting Thiago.

“When I saw that the crash was going to happen, I picked up my foot and hit him with my knee in the pass, which was inevitable due to the speed of the play.

"I already sent a message to him apologising and I also do it here publicly. I hope he hasn't been hurt and that everything is fine."
