How Man City will line-up next season with Rodri and Angelino – but Sane’s future still up in air – The Sun

PEP GUARDIOLA might have guided his side to the domestic treble last season, but there's always room for improvement.

The Manchester City boss has made two signings so far this summer as he continues his preparations for the 2019/20 campaign.

City re-signed Angelino from PSV Eindhoven after activating a £5.3m buy-back clause on the left-back.

And Guardiola secured a club record £63m deal for highly-rated Spanish midfielder Rodri from Atletico Madrid.

Both of the new arrivals at the Etihad are expected to be regulars in the first-team next season.

But the reigning Premier League champions could be without Leroy Sane – who is locked in contract talks.

The 23-year-old, who scored 16 goals and provided 15 assists last season, has been heavily linked to Bayern Munich.

Ederson will remain between the sticks for City after he kept 20 clean sheets in the league last term.

Angelino, 22, is expected to start at left-back alongside defensive duo Aymeric Laporte and John Stones.

Kyle Walker is set to be the first choice right-back, but Danilo could be used there from time to time.

In midfield, Rodri will play as a holding midfielder after he was signed to replace ageing Fernandinho, 34.

Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva will likely start ahead of him, but Phil Foden will battling for his spot after making 13 league appearances last season.

In the absence of Sane, Bernardo Silva or Gabriel Jesus will be Guardiola's first-choice replacements.
