Inter Milan make Christian Eriksen transfer U-turn and decide to KEEP ex-Tottenham ace as Conte confirms club position

INTER MILAN have performed a dramatic U-turn and will KEEP Christian Eriksen.

Antonio Conte confirmed the change of stance after the Dane scored a dramatic late winner in Tuesday's Milan derby.

Manchester United, Leicester and Arsenal had all been linked with moves for the previously out of favour 28-year-old.

But he will be staying put until the end of the season, according to his manager.

After the game, Conte told Rai Sport: "Eriksen will stay here at Inter.

"He’s not leaving because we’re not signing any players, so we won’t let him leave the club.

"I’m so happy for his goal."

Leicester contacted Inter about taking him on loan but were not willing to pay his £300,000-a-week wages in full.

Man Utd were willing to cough up more than the Midlands side but were still offering less than 40 per cent of his salary.

A dramatic return to Tottenham was also mooted while bitter rivals Arsenal were reportedly offered him for just £12m.

Eriksen scored a stunning 97th minute free-kick to beat Inter's bitter rivals AC Milan 2-1 in the Coppa Italia quarter-final.

And after the game Conte admitted he hopes the strike sparks him into life.

The Italian said: "It should galvanise him and us. I had urged Christian to take the free-kick.

"He's a nice guy, who we all care about. He's a lad who has integrated himself well in the team. However, despite this, he is quite shy.

"Let's hope this goal helps him in that regard because we need him."
