Kylian Mbappe 'opens door to new PSG contract as he is tempted to stay and break Edinson Cavani's goal record'

KYLIAN MBAPPE has reportedly opened the door to a new Paris Saint-Germain contract .

The striker drew level with Zlatan Ibrahimovic in PSG's all-time top scorers charts with a two-goal cameo in the 3-1 win over Saint-Etienne at the weekend.

Only Edinson Cavani has scored more for the club with 200 goals across all competitions.

And according to L'Equipe, Mbappe has hinted he could stay at PSG beyond this season and break the Uruguayan's club record.

Mbappe is subject to transfer interest from Real Madrid with just four months left on his current deal.

He could join his boyhood club for FREE… or he could stay at PSG and play alongside greats such as Lionel Messi and Neymar.

On matching Ibra's record and possibly catching Cavani, Mbappe said: "Ibra, when you consider what he's done here, it's symbolic.

"It's a high standard and I'm in an elite club.

"I've equalled it and if there are no big problems, I'll overtake it. There remains Edi's record. We'll see how it goes.

"You can't dismiss the prospect of being the top scorer in PSG's history."

Mbappe also says it's 'nice to have the affection' of the fans.

The 23-year-old has 24 goals and 17 assists to his name this term, proving he's PSG's danger man.

He said: "It's nice to have the affection of people, the fans, we also play for this kind of thing.

"There is of course this statistical performance side, but leaving an imprint, it creates a link, it touches me a lot.

"It's great to have the recognition of this family, that's why we play."
