Longchamp tips: Templegate's best bets for blockbuster Saturday of Group racing from Paris

TEMPLEGATE turns his eye to all the top class racing taking place in Paris this weekend.

Our top tipster runs through the Group races on Saturday and reveals his pick in each.

12.23: Prix Chaudeney

MANOBO came back from a break to take a Listed race at Saint-Cloud by an impressive ten lengths last time out.

He has winning form on fast and slow ground so it won’t matter when the rain arrives in Paris.

The way he finished suggests this longer trip will be fine.

Alter Adler was second in the German Derby and is another who looks more of a stamina horse.

He has each-way prospects while Interpretation wasn’t disgraced when fourth in the St Leger and is a proven stayer.

1.33: Prix Daniel Wildenstein

VICTOR LUDORUM won a Group 1 as a two-year-old on bottomless ground so should appreciate conditions in Paris.

He was a solid third in the Moulin here last time and can go close again.

Real World is a real talent as he showed when winning the Strensall Stakes at York last time.

The worry is the ground and his best efforts have come in much quicker conditions.

The Revenant didn’t fire on two starts this spring and is back from six months off.

He landed the QEII Stakes on soft ground at Ascot this time last year and is more than capable of bouncing back.

Templegate’s Saturday Longchamp tips

12.23   Manobo

12.58   Teema

1.33     Victor Ludorum

2.15     Trueshan

2.50     Joie De Soir

3.25     Green Fly

4.00     Cadillac

4.35     Pegasus

5.10     Woot City

2.15: Prix Du Cadran

TRUESHAN will be hoping for even more rain because he’s one of the world’s top stayers when the ground’s testing.

He was a convincing winner of the Goodwood Cup when last seen in July and he looks tailormade for this race.

Stradivarius is still a huge threat although there’s no doubt a faster surface suits.

He came back to something like his true self when winning the Doncaster Cup last month. Princess Zoe won this in the mud 12 months ago and won’t be far away again.

She was a cracking second in the Ascot Gold Cup ahead of Stradivarius and has had a break since her solid Irish St Leger third in August.

2.50: Prix De Royallieu

JOIE DE SOIR is the potential big improver in the field after going close in a Deauville Group 2 on just her fourth start last time out.

She enjoyed cut in the ground when winning a Clairefontaine Listed contest before that so should handle conditions.

Valia was a place behind her latest but was a good second in the Group 1 Royal Oak here last season and will be happier back over this longer trip.

At a price, Yesyes has place claims after a solid fourth in the Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster.

She looks a real staying type for Ralph Beckett.

4.00: Prix Dollar

CADILLAC has had a quiet season with just two runs.

He battled well to win a Curragh Group 3 before not firing when sent over to America for a Grade 1 on very fast ground.

He has potential to score at this level for Jessica Harrington.

Dubai Honour had a bit in hand when taking a Deauville Group 2 in August.

William Haggas’s runner is another with relatively few miles on the clock.

Magny Cours loved the soft ground when striking at Clairefontaine and has run well here a few times. He has solid place claims.
