West Ham star calls for Maguire exit

Michail Antonio has urged Harry Maguire to move onto pastures new following his failed move from Manchester United to West Ham.

During an appearance on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, the Hammer hitman said: There’s a lot of things he needs to sort out in his own mind.

“Whether he wants to leave one of the biggest clubs in the world, whether he wants to keep fighting and see if he gets another opportunity.

“I understand the two clubs have agreed, the club might not want to get rid of him, but football changes quickly.

“There could be a lot of injuries and he could think to himself I could have another chance and I can still show my ability.

“I feel like he is a quality player and I know once he gets his confidence back and people stop ripping into him and give him an opportunity to showcase himself again, I feel like he will actually do well.”

Martinez could be sidelined for Spurs clash

Lisandro Martinez was substituted at half-time against Wolves due to a problem with his ankle on Monday, rather than for being on a yellow card, it has been revealed.

And it could mean the Argentine may miss the trip to Tottenham next week.

However, quotes that have oddly been attributed to both Erik ten Hag and Raphael Varane by other outlets tried to calm any nerves by insisting the issue was “not a big deal”.

After the 1-0 win over Wolves, it was said: “[Martinez has] A little problem on his ankle, tendon.

“We’ll see, but I don’t think it’s a big deal. We’ll see how he is this week.”

    United beat Everton

Man United beat Everton 2-0 in a behind-closed-doors friendly with forgotten star Donny van de Beek making a rare start.

Harry Maguire, whose proposed transfer to West Ham collapsed this week, was included in the starting line-up according to Manchester Evening News.

While Anthony Martial played his first minutes since tearing his hamstring during the last Premier League game of last season against Fulham.

Donny van de Beek also started after playing a bit-part role during United's pre-season but was left out of the matchday squad against Wolves – his last competitive appearance came against Bournemouth in January.

    Bailly could stay at United

Erik Bailly could be set to stay at Manchester United this season despite heading up the club's transfer list.

The defender was in talks to terminate his contract with United which would allow him to join Saudi side Al-Nassr on a free.

According to Turkish reports, Bailly has demanded a loyalty bonus owed to him of £600k but United are unwilling to pay this.

Bailly's routes out of United now appear to be limited after Al-Nassr turned their attentions to signing Manchester City's Aymeric Laporte.

So United could be in for another year of paying Bailly's £80k-a-week wages despite spending the summer desperately trying to move him on.

United 'not planning any major business'

Manchester United are reportedly not planning to make any more major signings, according to Sky Sports.

The report claims that the likelihood that Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay will stay at the club, it will made signing new players difficult

The duo would have commanded sizable transfer fees, but without that money moves for Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard and Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat are unlikely.

The club are still interested in the duo, but will have to sell players in order to fund the moves.
