Former Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku is now Chelsea's top earner following his £97.5million transfer from Inter Milan.

Lukaku signed a five-year contract with the Blues and became the club’s most expensive signing of all time.

And the star centre-forward will be bagging a staggering £325,000 per week.

That dwarfs the next highest earner N’Golo Kante, who is making £290,000 a week

Manchester United stars Bruno Fernandes and Edinson Cavani have been nominated for the 2020-2021 Europa League Player of the Season award.

Fernandes and Cavani played a critical role in United's path to the competition's final.

The Red Devils lost to Villarreal, who also have a representative in the list of nominations.

And that is record goalscorer Gerard Moreno

Manchester United star Harry Maguire has asked the fans to 'stick with' the team this coming season.

Maguire told United's official website: “Stick with us,

"We’re super happy to have you back at Old Trafford and supporting us, and we can’t wait to play in front of everyone again.

"We hope we can have a good season together and we thank you for all your support.

"I think the fans are going to have a big part to play.

“I can only speak on my first season at United where the atmosphere they created was amazing, not just at Old Trafford but away from home, they sing non-stop and follow us in their numbers and we really feel their support.

“I feel like we have the best fans in the country and I’m sure they’ll have a part to play this season and I can’t wait for them to experience being at Old Trafford again”

Brighton boss Graham Potter admits he can’t control Manchester United target Yves Bissouma’s future.

Potter said: “I seem to have been speaking about Yves Bissouma for quite sometime.

“But he’s still here. I can’t control the future.

“Yves is with us, he’s happy and smiling, he wants to play and keep on improving his career.

“He’s our player and while he’s here we will do our best to help him”

Manchester United legend Paul Parker has advised his former club to sell Paul Pogba and replace him with Brighton star Yves Bissouma.

Parker told SunSport: “I’d let him go and get as much money as they can for him.

“The thing with Pogba is you don’t know what you’re getting, so I’d bring in someone who you know has a better chance of making a difference week in, week out.

“So let him go and if he joins PSG and does great, then you have to say it’s because that suits him.

“I know if that happened everyone would say ‘Oh, it’s because Ole’s c**p’ but it wouldn’t be.

“It’s about the individual and all Pogba has done is sell himself short.

“Eric [Cantona] didn’t do it everywhere, didn’t have the same reputation in France but came in and really made a difference.

“And when you sell Pogba, you go and get Yves Bissouma from Brighton, who is a great holding player, good feet in tight areas.

“You’d get someone far more consistent, Brighton would get good value and Bissouma would be desperate to show he could make a difference at a club like United”

Manchester City legend Joleon Lescott doesn't expect Manchester United to rival his former club for the Premier League title.

Lescott told the Manchester Evening News when asked if it will be a tight race: "Yeah definitely. Very competitive, very close. Because all those teams now are capable of going on a run that allows you to win the title.

"I still, and I don't mean in a disrespectful way, I don't see United being there throughout the season, because I just believe the new norm to win a title now with City, Liverpool and Chelsea, to the back-end of last season, you have to go on and win nine games out of 10.

"I don't see United doing that, maybe with new signings, but in regards to previous years they have great unbeaten runs but in them 12 games they will have four or five draws, which we've seen over the last few seasons, you can't do that.

"You need to go out and win seven, eight, nine games in a row and just build up that ridiculous momentum. I see the other teams doing that and have history of doing that.

"It will be close. I believe Chelsea are the biggest contenders to Liverpool and City, I believe City are favourites and rightly so but Chelsea are strong contenders"

Edinson Cavani has returned to Manchester ahead of the new season.

Cavani had a busy summer as he competed in the Copa America for Uruguay.

Much will be expected from the centre-forward this season after he signed a new contract.

Cavani issued the following statement: "Back at home, this year we'll be 4 for this new adventure"

Manchester United legend Roy Keane believes Chelsea are going to be the closest challengers to Manchester City for the Premier League trophy.

Keane told The Overlap: "[Chelsea have] got energy, new manager, new ideas, and they've always had quality.

"You were looking at the last year or two going without that out and out goalscorer. But [Romelu] Lukaku gives them a great chance.

"I know Liverpool have a lot of players coming back, but I would still be looking at City and Chelsea.

"Unless United or Liverpool pull something out of the bag in the next week or two with a few brilliant signings, I can't see beyond City or Chelsea"

Manchester United are expected to let Amad Diallo leave on loan before the transfer window closes.

That could have a major impact on Raphael Varane's imminent arrival at Old Trafford.

Varane has signed a contract with the Red Devils, who are expected to announce him soon.

According to Sport Witness, the star defender could take Diallo's No19 shirt, if the winger leaves on loan

Manchester United are still expected to announce the signing of Raphael Varane soon.

However, there has been a significant delay regarding the official unveiling.

According to Sport Witness, the hold-up is due to image rights.

However, the star defender is still expected to play for the Red Devils this coming season

Manchester United are likely to offload Amad Diallo on loan before the summer transfer window slams shut.

Diallo joined United in a £37million transfer from Atalanta in January but has only played eight times, starting twice.

The 19-year-old opted to miss pre-season in favour of representing the Ivory Coast at the Tokyo Olympics.

The Red Devils have already sanctioned a season-long loan for fellow winger Facundo Pellistri to Alaves and the Ivorian has also been lined up for a temporary move, according to Manchester Evening News

Manchester United are close to announcing the signing of Raphael Varane, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Varane completed his medical at Carrington on Tuesday, meaning an announcement has been expected imminently.

Despite the delay, Romano has confirmed that the star defender is a United player and all that is left to be done is the announcement.

"My job with Raphael Varane is done, he's signed the contract, the official announcement is up to Manchester United, in the coming days/hours"

Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba is 'very likely' to leave next summer when his contract expires.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who report that Pogba has rejected a new deal at United and is poised to leave in 2022.

The midfielder could also start discussing with clubs outside of England in the New Year.

Paris Saint-Germain appear as favourites to secure the France international's services

Manchester United have 'shelved' their interest in Wolves star Ruben Neves, Atletico Madrid hero Saul Niguez and Rennes ace Eduardo Camavinga.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who report that United have gone cold on Neves, Saul and Camavinga.

However, the Red Devils are still keen to add a new midfielder within their ranks.

That is mainly because there is a worry that Paul Pogba will leave as he enters the final year of his contract at Old Trafford

Manchester United are the only Premier League club with a chance of signing Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland next year.

That is according to AS, who report that Manchester City and Chelsea's bids for Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku respectively have ruled them out of the race.

But United will still have to fight off interest from Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, who have emerged as favourites to land Haaland.

The star striker could be available for as little as £65million next summer due to a clause in his contract with Dortmund

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Manchester United will be one of the clubs in the running for Rennes star Eduardo Camavinga.

Romano told The United Stand podcast last week: “He’s not going to extend his contract with Rennes.

“That’s why the player is not in a rush, because he knows if someone is paying €40million (£34m) to Rennes this summer then he’ll be leaving the club.

“He wants to be 100 per cent convinced about the project of a club because he has the opportunity to wait six months and then from January he can sign as a free agent for the following season.

“He wants to understand who really wants him and what kind of project they can offer. It’s true PSG have an interest in Camavinga. I would say PSG and Manchester United want Camavinga this summer.

“Manchester United are still waiting to see what happens with Pogba. I think it won’t be easy this summer because the timing will be different. It could be something that happens later in the window.

“If the situation goes to next summer, many other teams will join the race”

Raphael Varane has officially signed his contract with Manchester United and an announcement is expected soon.

Fabrizio Romano posted on Twitter: "Announcement finally coming.

"Contract already signed until June 2025 plus option to extend until 2026. Final paperworks completed yesterday after medical.

"Raphael Varane, new Manchester United player"

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has more major transfer plans.

According to AS, PSG have conceded that Kylian Mbappe won’t renew his contract and will leave at the end of the season to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.

But the Ligue 1 giants are not panicking because they are planning to replace Mbappe with Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo, whose deal with Juventus also expires next summer.

Therefore, Al-Khelaifi is planning a stunning attacking trio consisted of Ronaldo, Neymar and Lionel Messi for the 2022-2023 season.

If United are still planning on bringing the Portugal international back then they are set for some intense competition

Manchester United welcome Leeds to Old Trafford for a Saturday lunchtime kick-off between two old rivals, writes KEALAN HUGHES.

The Premier League welcomes the return of full capacity crowds for the first time since the pandemic began and it promises to be an electric atmosphere at the Theatre of Dreams.

United will be aiming to get off to a winning start as they begin their bid to better the second-place finish they achieved last season.

Bruno Fernandes led by example in a 4-0 win over Everton in United's last pre-season friendly last week, and Ole Gunnar Solskajer could name a similar line-up.

David De Gea is expected to start with Dean Henderson having recently struggled with COVID-19.

Roy Keane believes Manchester United's goalkeeping situation is a 'huge problem' going into the new season, writes SHANE O'MAHONY.

The Red Devils begin their Premier League campaign on Saturday afternoon when they host Leeds United.

David De Gea and Dean Henderson will battle for the number one jersey, with Tom Heaton also joining this summer.

But former United captain Keane believes its a problem position for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He told Sky Sports: "United have a huge problem with their goalkeeper.

"We can talk about Manchester City here and Liverpool there, we never talk about their goalkeepers because it's taken care of.

"But United, I get drawn back to that all the time. We talk about midfielders and full-backs, but the goalkeeper – not up to it.

"But people say De Gea was good six or seven years ago, I was good 20 years ago! You can't keep looking back.

"At the moment these 'keepers aren't good enough.

"Henderson, OK, might get more of a chance. But it's alright playing for Sheffield United, playing for Man United is a different animal."

Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed the summer arrival "had a good week".

He said: "He's going to be involved, definitely.

"He's had a good week – unfortunately he was ill after his holiday, and we've lost out on a few days of training with him, but he's gelled really well in the group and has looked sharper than expected.

"He's going to be involved, can't tell you if he's going to start or not though."

Jadon Sancho is looking forward to playing with Bruno Fernandes at Man Utd.

The summer signing said he's on the same page as the Portuguese midfielder.

Speaking to United legend Rio Ferdinand for BT Sport, Sancho said: "Goals, assists, a bit of flair and definitely eager to win. That’s one of my things I’ve always done.

"I’m always trying to help the team to win. I love winning, that’s my mentality and hopefully I can you know win a few games for Man United, if it’s a close game and things like that. I’m looking forward to it.

“Definitely [I want to win in training]. I can see that in a few of the players, like Bruno.

“Today, we were on the same team and we just linked up really well. Me and him love winning so I’m glad me and Bruno have the same mindset because it’s needed, especially in a big team like this.

“If you want to win things, you have to learn how to win in training and matches. It’s important.”
