Mets name Zack Scott acting GM after Jared Porter firing
The Mets are moving forward with Zack Scott as their acting general manager, the team announced Wednesday, after they fired GM Jared Porter for sending lewd text messages to a female journalist.
Scott, 43, joined the club in December as a senior vice president/assistant general manager after spending 17 years with the Red Sox.
“Zack has plenty of championship experience to draw upon,” team president Sandy Alderson said in a statement. “He has been an integral part of our decision-making processes since his arrival. The entire baseball operations staff, including myself, will continue to work collaboratively.”
Scott was an assistant general manager in his final two years with Boston, where he oversaw the organization’s analytics. He was a runner-up in the Mets’ GM search before Porter was hired.
