Friday evening was the final round of darts before the Ally Pally shuts its doors for the festive period – re-opening on Tuesday (27 December).

The 96 competitors who first took the oche have been whittled down to the final 32 – and the final will be held in the New Year on 3 January. And one person determined to be there is Drik van Duijvenbode.

The Dutchman joked he would swim across the English Channel to make it back in time for the third round if the winter strikes stop his travel from the Netherlands.
