MUBAKKER was fancied for the Wokingham at Royal Ascot last week before the ground went against him and looks too hot for these rivals. He was in blistering form on comeback when winning as he liked over course and distance earlier this month. He steps out of handicap company today but has more than enough class to cope.

Brando spends much of his time in Group 1s and looked in need of his comeback at Newmarket earlier this month. He’s probably not the horse he was but still has plenty of speed.

Judicial may be eight but he’s running out of skin at the moment with a close-up second at Group 3 level at Newmarket last time out. That was over five furlongs but he has no issue with the longer trip.

Major Jumbo was a place behind at HQ and will make his usual bold bid from the front. He has winning form on this tapeta track.

Chiefofchiefs got the job done well in the Silver Wokingham at Royal Ascot. He clocked a good time and deserves this step up in grade. A repeat could see him in the frame.

Shimmering Dawn and Harry’s Bar both went well last time and like the all-weather. Three-year-old Harry’s Bar impressed at Haydock on comeback and has more to offer.

MAGICAL SPIRIT finished last season in cracking form and carried on where he left off with a blistering win at Beverley 16 days ago. That was all the better because he missed the break yet was well on top at the line. He’s won on this track and could still be ahead of the handicapper, especially with top claimer Megan Nicholls taking off 3lb.

Venturous is turned out quickly after a close second at Haydock on Wednesday. He has gone well here before and will be a threat if this isn’t too soon.

Cowboy Soldier relishes the all-weather and was an impressive winner at Kempton in the spring. He’s just 1lb higher now and has had a couple of runs to sharpen him up.

Lahore got the job done well at Doncaster earlier this month. A 6lb rise for that looks fair and he enjoyed dropping back to this distance.

Lord Riddiford had plenty in hand when scoring at Chelmsford last time out in March. Trainer John Quinn is in decent form and he won’t be far away over his best trip.

Copper Knight is creeping up the weights without winning. He went close at Newmarket before a fair fourth at Listed level 13 days ago. Trip and track suit so he can’t be ruled out.

ALOE VERA looked a real prospect before her season came to an end last May. She won on debut at Chepstow before cruising to victory in a Goodwood listed race. They were both over this trip and anything like that form would be good enough to take this.

Look Around looked rusty coming back from a break at Newbury 14 days ago. She was beaten just six lengths in last year’s 1,000 Guineas so has quality. This step up in distance should help.

Virgin Snow landed a Haydock handicap over this trip on comeback without having to get too serious. That was just her third outing so there should be a lot more to come.

Nkosaki was sent all the way to Redcar by William Haggas and paid for the diesel with a gutsy success. This is stiffer opposition but she is entitled to improve a bundle for that comeback and can’t be ruled out.

Sweet Promise did well early on last season and went close in Listed company at Longchamp. Her two runs since then in Group level don’t inspire much confidence although trainer James Fanshawe is in decent nick.

Bubble And Squeak won a handicap at Wolverhampton in December but this is much tougher.

CARNWENNAN loves this course and distance as he showed when winning the Plate consolation race last season. He can step up into the main event this time on the back of an excellent second here last time out in February. Charlie Fellowes’ stayer has won three times over this punishing trip and looks rock solid to keep going when others have had enough.

Australis looked a real danger after winning nicely over 1m6f at Wolverhampton earlier this month. That should have blown away the cobwebs and a 5lb rise in the weights is far. Trainer Roger Varian continues to fire in the winners.

Reshoun got the job done well over this trip at Kempton when last seen in November. He didn’t get the clearest of runs so can be marked up. From just 2lb higher he won’t be far away.

Caravan Of Hope ploughed through the mud to win at Doncaster in October and chased home Australis at Wolver 18 days ago. He shapes as though stepping up to two miles will help.

Smart Champion was fourth in the Group 3 Sagaro Stakes over course and distance earlier this month. He landed four handicaps on the spin before that and is another to consider.

Collide wasn’t disgraced at Royal Ascot last week and is a Listed winner at best. He has to prove his staying power but has ability.

NEWMARKET

BOCCACCIO looked a nice prospect when winning on both starts as a two-year-old. He kicked off with a cosy success at Yarmouth before following up on the all-weather at Kempton. He didn’t have to get out of second gear there and should take another step forward this summer.

Raatea came back with a bloodless win at Kempton 15 days ago. He picked up really well in that maiden and should have enough pace to cope with dropping back from a mile.

Ayr Harbour has done most of his racing on the all-weather where he landed wins at Lingfield and Newcastle last term. He came back with a close second at Gosforth Park earlier this month and would be a danger if translating his form to turf.

Manigordo had a bit up his sleeve when winning in a small field at Sandown 14 days ago. Ryan Moore takes over in the saddle and, while his mark looks on the lofty side, he should have more to offer.

Stone Circle won a big sales race at The Curragh last season but hasn’t come close to matching that form since. He has had some help from the handicapper but needs more.

ON THE WARPATH has been hard to get on the racetrack in the past year or so but he’s done well with two big handicap efforts here and a close thing in hot company in Dubai last time out in February. He likes this trip and has enough quality to figure upped to Group 3 level.

Veteran Limato won this 12 months ago and looks a big threat. He has needed his comeback run for the past two seasons, which is a concern, but he’s the class act in the field.

Mubtasim gives Godolphin another big chance. He’s a big handicap winner over course and distance and went well in Saudi Arabia last time out in February.

Vale Of Kent ran a cracker when fourth in the Royal Hunt Cup over a mile last week. He has enough pace for this trip as he showed when winning the Bunbury Cup on the July Course here last season. Frankie was on board that day too.

Happy Power often races in higher company and should be fit after a good Listed third at Haydock on comeback. He seemed to enjoy coming back to seven furlongs there.

Sheikh Hamdan pair Yafta and Turjomaan can’t be ruled out on their best form with the former shaping well at Haydock latest.

VOLKAN STAR ran a belter when second over course and distance on comeback earlier this month. He was probably too close to the pace but boxed on well in the closing stages, clocking a good time in the process. He should improve for that run and go close again.

Thunderous won all three starts last season, finishing with a Listed success at Newbury. They were all over seven furlongs but he’s bred for this sort of trip and looks capable of taking a step forward.

Man Of The Night won on debut and has put in some good efforts since without getting his head in front. He looked pretty rusty when third at Newbury last time and should improve for that. He stays well and can’t be ruled out.

Do You Love Me wasn’t asked a lot of questions when third of four on debut at Newmarket 13 days ago. She looked pretty green and can build on that, although she has a lot on her plate today.

Goddess Of Fire has plenty of miles on the clock for her age and was tailed off at Yarmouth latest. She has a couple of all-weather wins in the book but shouldn’t be adding to her tally here.
