    HALF-TIME STATS

For the first time since Thomas Tuchel took charge, Chelsea have failed to register an attempt on target in a Premier League match.

An intriguing contest at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but no goals to report. The best chance of the game fell to Son Heung-min, only for the South Korean to be denied by stand-in keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. The Chelsea defence has performed typically well, now the Blues need to find a way to support and service Romelu Lukaku.

    45. Ndombele is back on, and there will be two minutes of additional time to be played.

    43. Ndombele goes down in the centre of the pitch, having taken a knock to the face.

It allows Martin Tyler and Gary Neville the time to discuss what the merits of the midfielder are. Outcome: they're not sure.

    41. The Chelsea corner from the right follows the pattern of set-pieces so far. It's poor, it's low and it's eventually dealt with by the first defender, albeit under pressure from Jorginho.

    40. Mount hasn't been much better than Havertz so far, and now wastes an opportunity to test Tottenham's defender with a cross from the right wing.

Instead, the midfielder dallies to such an extent that by the time he releases his ball, a defender is on hand to deflect it behind.

    38. The languid-looking Havertz again fails to adequately support Lukaku in Chelsea's latest attack.

It immediately sparks the debate about whether Timo Werner would be an option in games such as this.

    36. The action has restarted, and the Tottenham press has continued.

However, Reguilon again brings some groans from the home supporters by knocking a simple pass out for a throw-in.

    34. Son and Kepa both stayed down after their collision, and that allows captain and manager time for a tactical consultation.

Azpilicueta and Tuchel are locked in conversation on the touchline with arms being pointed in all directions.

    33. Lo Celso picks out the run of Son with a fine pass, and the South Korean is through.

Like Havertz before him, Son's first touch isn't the best but he still leaves the stadium expecting a shot and net ripple to follow. However, that's reckoning without Kepa, who does extremely well to get off his line quickly and save.

    31. Havertz cleverly drifts into space inside the box and is the perfect target for Alonso's crosss.

The German is picked out by the left wing-back, but takes a poor first touch that gives Spurs' recovering defenders just enough time to block.

    30. Ndombele is easily forced off the ball and, as a result, Havertz is able to make his way to the byline unchallenged.

The German steps up a cross towards Lukaku at the near post, but the Belgian finds himself crowded out by a sea of white shirts.

    27. Kane fouls Jorginho. Jorginho fouls Kane.

Who will win? There's only one way to find out…

    25. Christensen gets forward and, after a one-two with Lukaku, whips a long ranger just wide of the right post.

We've seen him put those in before, most recently for Denmark at the European Championships.

    23. Midway through the first half, and it's something of a surprise that it remains goalless.

Spurs' approach has clearly caught Chelsea off guard, and they've needed all the experience and ability of their back three to see off the home side's press.

Meanwhile, the Blues have looked troublesome when they've attacked, and always carry a threat while Lukaku leads the line.

    22. Referee Paul Tierney opted against going back to caution Jorginho for his foul in the build-up to that break. The Chelsea midfielder has got away with a couple of fouls already.

    21. Kepa fumbles a cross.

Still, at least he made it to the 21-minute mark before drawing attention to himself.

    20. Now a chance for Tottenham to break!

Paul Tierney plays a fine advantage after Jorginho chops down Alli, and that's because Reguillon is flying down the left in possession.

The Spaniard has Lo Celso and Kane arriving in the box, but fails to get his cross beyond Rudiger. Had he succeeded, surely Spurs would have been celebrating the game's opening goal.

  • Sam Dymond

    SPURS 0-0 CHELSEA

    17. Kane tries to wriggle in beyond Rudiger, but the Chelsea defender's renaissance as one of the best in the league continues. He does superbly to muscle the striker off the ball and see the danger behind.

    15. Big chance for Chelsea!

The visitors catch Spurs out in midfield and have the chance to break three-on-three.

Mount carries the ball forward, and goes looking for Lukaku to his right.

For once, the midfielder's pass isn't perfect, and leaves the striker without a shooting option. Instead, Lukaku edges it back to Mount, who fails to trouble Lloris.

    14. Chelsea have begun to get a grip on proceedings, but are still requiring their back three to stay alert to the danger that is being thrown their way at lightning speed.

    11. A reprieve for Chelsea as they enjoy a spell in Spurs' half ends with a half-chance going begging.

A crossfield pass from the left is met By Azpilicueta's head just inside the area. The Chelsea captain knocks his connection back across the box for Havertz, who completely fluffs his intended volley with an air shot.

    8. It's Son's turn to threaten from the right.

He sizes up Rudiger and intends to push the ball beyond him to chase, only to put too much on his touch and instead knock it out for a goalkick.
