WWE ‘pushing’ for Ronda Rousey to make long-awaited return at Royal Rumble this weekend after a near three year hiatus

THE WWE are reportedly 'pushing' hard for Ronda Rousey to make her long-awaited return at the Royal Rumble this weekend.

Former UFC women's bantamweight champion Rousey hasn't set foot inside the ring since losing her Winner Takes All match-up with Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair at Wrestlemania 35 in April 2019.

But according to reports, the WWE brass are trying to set the wheels in motion for a Rowdy spectacular.

Fightful claimed on Monday that promotion bigwigs are trying to entice the MMA legend back into the ring.

They claim Rousey 'was a name tossed around as a potential Royal Rumble entrant or at least to have some participation in the Rumble, though her involvement beyond that isn't known.'

Shortly after it was claimed Rousey could return this weekend, wrestling reporter Bryan Alvarez reported she will indeed feature in the Women's Royal Rumble early on Sunday morning.

The WWE have yet to drop any hint of Rousey's return, although it's said the promotion believe her comeback is a matter of 'when, not if.'

Rousey's hiatus from the ring has been in large part to her starting a family with husband Travis Browne, with the pair announcing the birth of their daughter La'akea Browne last September.

And she admitted having her first child could pave the way for her to QUIT wrestling forever.

In 2020, she told former Jackass star Steve-O: "I don't know what it's like to have a baby.

I could look down at this beautiful child and be like, 'F**k everything, I don't care about anything else other than this baby.'

"And you'll never see me again.

"But I'm just saying, you never know, I don't want to make any promises about the future when I don't know how I'm gonna feel in the future."

And in the same interview, Rousey enraged WWE fans by branding them 'f**king ungrateful'.

She said: "So it's just like … what am I doing it for if I'm not being able to spend my time and energy on my family, but instead spending my time and my energy on a bunch of f**king ungrateful fans that don't even appreciate me?

"I love performing. I love the girls. I love being out there … but, at the end of the day, I was just like, 'F**k these fans, dude,'" she said at the time. "

"My family loves me and they appreciate me and I want all my energy to go into them. So that was my decision at the end of the day.

"It's like, 'Hey girls. Love what you're doing.

"'I'm gonna try and take all my momentum and push you guys as far as I can … fly little birds, fly! I'm going f**king home!' And that was basically it."
